About this mod

Adds various braids, buns, and ponytails from vanilla hairs as a separate selection.

Changelogs
This mod basically cut out pieces from various vanilla hairstyles and adds them to the Chin section of the "General" tab in CC (I tried to keep the meshes as vanilla as possible, but had to make some changes to a couple parts in order for them to work well).

You will need Patches for CC Mods if you want compatibility with other mods that edit Races.lsx (such as my regular hair mod, P4 Bangs Bangs Everywhere, or other mods listed in this article.)

Have a question? Check the Troubleshooting Tips article and the forums before you make a bug report. Please also check the existing reports to see if someone has already brought up the issue. Please.

Known Issues:
  • Hair extensions appear for Dragonborn too (because I tied them to the Humanoid tag to make them compatible with custom races and Dragonborn fall under that tag; very low priority)
  • Weird interactions between hairs with physics (explained in old FAQ article; cannot fix)
  • Not compatible with Plus UI (extensions are put in the "Body" tab and prevent the player from checking "Hide Clothes"; I am not responsible for how Plus UI moves things around therefore this is not something to fix on my end)

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you add them to other slots too?
Spoiler:
Show
I have no plans at this time to make duplicates for other slots.

However, if you want to make a patch to enable the parts in other slots, feel free to send me a DM about it. (You don't *have* to talk to me about it first, but I would like to be aware of it ahead of time.

Can you add an option that has two parts together?

I would rather not. Adding combo options (that don't come from the same base hairstyle) could get overwhelming very quickly.

If you would like to merge some options together yourself, the BG3 Wiki has a bunch of resources for learning to mod (and is currently being worked on to be a bit more beginner friendly), and the folks in the Down By The River discord server are quite friendly (and a huge reason that I've been able to learn so much after having never touched Blender or xml files prior to October 2023)

Why doesn't the color on some hair extensions match with regular hairs?
Spoiler:
Show
A lot of vanilla hairstyles don't share the same texture, and the texture is part of what determines how the hair is colored.

While some textures are pretty similar to each other, others may be lighter or darker than the others (not to mention being straight/wavy/curly/coily/etc.) so if the hair extension doesn't share the same texture as the regular hair you pair it with, there's a good change there will be a minor color discrepancy.

Why aren't the new options showing up in game?
Spoiler:

If you have Padme's CC Races.lsx, then it probably hasn't been updated yet (they have to add the new options to the patch).
I will try to time my updates to happen just after the patch is updated so that there isn't a discrepancy, but sometimes I might get an update done early & want to upload it before I forget to.

Installation

How To Install BG3 Mods

Download it, unzip, and install with your mod manager (I use BG3MM). Make sure It is loaded before/above Patches for CC Mods if necessary.

You can find the info needed for Manual Installation in the info.json file that comes with each pak.

Uninstallation

You should be safe to simply remove it from the load order and/or delete it. The hair parts should simply disappear from any characters using them; the only issue would be that the next time you use the Magic Mirror on that save, you might have to hit "randomize" before you can save your new appearance.

Recommended Mods To Go With This:
P4 Bangs Bangs Everywhere
Adds bangs/side fringe/etc to the DragonbornJaw slot so you can mix & match with this mod!
Basic Hair
Adds hairs that can be used as a base!
