---- COMMENTS (IMPORTANT TO READ) ----
Unfortunately, since this is a conversion of an enemy to a player class, there are a few inherent issues due to the restrictions of modding. 
1. Since this is using a monster skeleton with no walk/idle skeletons, upon entering a dungeon, the Vanguard will have the afflicted sprite replacing his regular stance. THIS IS FIXED UPON ENTERING COMBAT. 
2. As mentioned, there is no walk skeleton so while the Vanguard is animated, his legs won't move while walking. I apologize, but there isn't anything I can do to change this right now. I'm currently looking into solutions.
3. Getting hit by a trap while moving around a dungeon will put the Vanguard into his Defense sprite until combat.
4. Camping will put the Vanguard into his Camping kneeling sprite until combat. 

---- BACKGROUND ----
Vanguards prefer to go in heavy. Carrying a shoddily-made, yet comfortably sturdy, tower shield, and a fur-lined hard-leather chestpiece, these men can withstand punishment far beyond that of their comrades. Shield in hand and metal mask hiding any emotion, these men are the perfect bulwark of steel and will to fend off the spreading corruption.

---- DESCRIPTION ----
The Vanguard is a unique class that specializes in hitting the enemy backline hard with an extremely strong Shrapnel Grenade, controling the enemy positions with assaults of varying kinds and disorienting Flash Grenades, and buffing/defending allies by Rallying them and using his massive shield to block from harm. He does well in either the first or fourth positions, but is ill suited for the two and three positions, having only a few abilities that work in the middle of the party.

---- SKILLS (OPTION 1) ----
Assault:
The Vanguard's "basic" attack. Targets one target and has a chance to knockback one position.
Smoke Assault: Battleground control move that pulls targets 3 positions and has a chance to stun.
Into the Fray: Charging forward, the Vanguard knocks his target back 2 positions right into the range of his grenade attacks and marking himself.
Tower Shield: Using his iconic shield, the Vanguard removes stuns and marks from his target, marking himself, and granting him a large PROT buff.
Shrapnel Grenade: An extremely deadly grenade that deals heavy BLEED damage over two rounds to targets in the enemy backline.
Flash Grenades: Disorienting blasts set off in the enemy party's face, shuffling the original target of the grenade attack.
Rally: Adapting the rallying call of his former commander, the Vanguard gives a small PROT/SPD buff and heals stress of the entire party.

---- SKILLS (OPTION 2) ----
Assault: 
The Vanguard's "basic" attack. Moves forward one space, has a chance to knockback the target one position. Also applies a medium-strength bleed.
Send Home: Battleground control move that pushes target two spaces back. The target is slightly PROT buffed, but gets strong DODGE/SPD debuffed, and is put in range of the Vanguard's Shrapnel Grenade.
Battlefield Fog: Using a light Smoke Grenade, the Vanguard confuses the target, making it wander forward three spaces and getting stunned. 
Tower Shield: Using his iconic shield, the Vanguard removes stuns and marks from his target, marking himself, and granting him a large PROT buff. In addition, the Vanguard hunkers down, giving up his next turn and activating riposte.
Shrapnel Grenade: An extremely deadly grenade that deals heavy BLEED damage over two rounds to targets in the enemy backline.
Flash Grenades: Disorienting blasts set off in the enemy party's face, shuffling the original target of the grenade attack.
Old Habits: Adapting the rallying call of his former commander, the Vanguard gives a small PROT/SPD buff, moves backwards a space, and heals himself.

---- INSTALLATION ----
1. Unzip the file into a new folder.
2. Navigate to your ProgramFiles(x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/DarkestDungeon folder.
3. Drag and drop the contents of the Vanguard 1.0 folder into the DarkestDungeon folder.
4. Open the text file named "Effects that need to be added!"
5. Find your effects.darkest file in the scripts folder, located in the main Darkest Dungeon folder.
6. Copy and paste the Vanguard skill effects to the bottom of the effects.darkest file, then save.
7. That's it! Enjoy!

Thanks for downloading and I hope you enjoy the class! Please report any bugs to me in the posts as soon as they happen as well as the situation. I've run with it quite a bit and haven't encountered any crash issues yet. All bugs seem to be entirely sprite-based and only occur during dungeon crawling.
