DESCRIPTION

Update v1.1 (13.04.2016): Rebreathers (Standard and Mk I through Mk V) added. These filters require Science! 2 to make and, in addition to the normal filter bonuses, grant underwater breathing.
Minor Update (20.04.2016): Corrected typo in folder structure that was preventing NMM from installing two particular settings (50 an 100 Radiation Resistances, Include Poison Resistance, Include Helmeted Cage and Spike Armors, No AWKCR Support).

Do you like the gas mask aesthetic but feel let down by its stats? Do you find the lack of hats whilst wearing gas masks disturbing? Then give this mod a try and add some craftable upgrades to your gas masks!

Gas Mask Upgrades add the ability to craft ten upgrades split into two categories for your gas masks which will allow you to increase the Radiation Resistance, Damage Resistance and Energy Resistance and optionally Poison Resistance of your gas masks.

Additionally, you can wear hats on top of your Gas Mask and Gas Mask with Goggles. A bit of nuclear fallout is no excuse to not look dapper after all.

Furthermore, you can choose to add the craftable Upgrades to Helmeted Cage and Spike Armors and/or add AWKCR Support. Better Mod Descriptions are already included.

Prefer it in video format? Gopher was so kind as to make a showcase of it (among others):

Thanks a lot!

ITEMS AFFECTED

The following items gain new craftable upgrades:

Gas Mask (can now be worn with hats)
Gas Mask with Goggles (can now be worn with hats)
Assault Gas Mask
OPTIONAL: Helmeted Cage Armor (gains +15 Radiation Resistance, to equal the other gas masks)
OPTIONAL: Helmeted Spike Armor
(gains +15 Radiation Resistance, to equal the other gas masks)

UPGRADES

The above items gain two new upgrade types: Filter Upgrades and Armor Inserts. These cost a small amount of resources to craft and each upgrade beyond Mk I requires an additional rank in the Armorer Perk.
Note that these upgrades do not change the visual appearance of the gas mask.

Filter Upgrades come in two variants: Filters and Rebreathers (Standard and Mk I through Mk V each).

Every Filter Upgrade will add Radiation Resistance depending on your choosing: +10, +50 or +100 per upgrade for a maximum of +50, +250 or +500 Radiation Resistance with a Mk V Filter.

Rebreathers, in additon to the above bonuses, also grant underwater breathing.

Optionally, the Filter Upgrade can also grant additional Poison Resistance equal to 50% of the Radiation Resistance, i.e. +5, +25 or +50 per upgrade for a maximum of +25, +125 or +250 Poison Resistance with a Mk V Filter.

Armor Inserts come in the same six variants: No Armor Insert and Mk I through Mk V.

Every Armor Insert will add +1 Damage Resistance and half as much Energy Resistance, rounded up.

A Mk I Armor Insert therefore grants +1 Damage Resistance and +1 Energy Resistance whilst a Mk V Armor Insert grants +5 Damage Resistance and +3 Energy Resistance.

COMPATIBILITY

Has been made compatible with the following mods:
Raider Overhaul WIP v9.2 by MadMAX713.

Gas Mask Upgrades adds 1 keyword: ma_GasMask. This is relevant as strange things can happen when too many keywords are added to Fallout 4.

Gas Mask Upgrades is not compatible with any other mod which affects the following items: Gas Mask, Gas Mask with Goggles and Assault Gas Mask as well as, if you chose the relevant option, Helmeted Cage Armor and Helmeted Spike Armor.

Gas Mask Upgrades is compatible with any texture or mesh changes for the above items as long as they do not affect the actual stats.

Gas Mask Upgrades is compatible with AWKCR if you choose the corresponding file.

Gas Mask Upgrades is compatible with Better Mod Descriptions out of the box. No compatible file required!

KNOWN ISSUES

-Any of the affected Gas Masks found before installing this mod will have no Standard mods (Standard Filter and No Armor Insert) installed in the respective slots. Any found afterwards will instead have the Standard mods installed. These are free to craft and do not affect the items' stats.

Created with FO4Edit 3.1.3 for Fallout 4 1.4.132

MANUAL INSTALLATION

Check the following articles with videos by Gopher on how to enable and install mods for Fallout 4:
Enabling Mods for Fallout 4
Fallout 4: Installing Mods on PC (Manually)

To install this mod, simply place your chosen .esp into the Fallout 4/Data folder.

If you haven't done so already, enable mods by adding the following line
to your Fallout4Prefs.ini file under the [Launcher] section:
bEnableFileSelection=1
If this line is already present but ends in 0, simply change it to 1.

Once this is done, the mod should automatically be loaded when you next
start Fallout 4. If it is not, you need to add it to your load order,
found under AppData/Local/Fallout4/plugins.txt in your User folder.
Add a new line with your chosen ESPs full name (e.g.
BetterModDescriptions.esp) and save the file. It should now load the mod
if it it placed in your Data folder.

MANUAL UNINSTALLATION

To uninstall this mod, simply remove the ESP from your Fallout 4/Data folder.
