About this mod

Distract your enemies with an illusory ally.

Disclaimer:

I ran a search on the Nexus and was genuinely astonished at the amount of chicken summoning spells already here. My mod was developed independently of all the others, and, to the best of my knowledge, is different in both scope and function.

With that out of the way, read on.

Do you harbor dreams of becoming a master thief, but find that your sneaking skills leave a lot to be desired? Are inconveniently placed guards getting in the way of your Riches Redistribution Plan? Are you a trespassing aficionado who would rather practise his/her/its hobby without bothering with combat and backstabs? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you may find this mod useful.

Deception of the Golden Chicken adds a new spell, Torqvald's Illusion, to the game. The spell summons a Golden Chicken that will distract your enemies while you (attempt to) sneak by unnoticed. Hostile NPCs and creatures will attack your feathery friend, who will, understandably, run for its life, often leading your enemies a long way away. Used properly, this spell will give you an opportunity to access restricted areas unmolested. The tome to learn this spell can be bought or stolen from the general store in Riverwood.

Features:

Here's what you should know about your Golden Chicken:

- It's not really made out of gold.

- Torqvald's Illusion is an apprentice level spell. It works like a Conjuration spell, but is actually uses the Illusion skill (duh). Therefore, it will not benefit from any Conjuration perks.

- Controlling the illusion requires concentration, so your Golden Chicken will still take up a summoned creature slot.

- Torqvald's Illusion is a silent spell, casting it will not alert enemies. They may, however, become slightly suspicious when a glowing chicken pops into existence right in front of them.

- The Golden Chicken can be summoned three times as far as other conjured creatures. Getting the Summoner perk will not modify this.

- The Chicken will draw the attention of hostile NPCs. It will ignore people and creatures that mean you no harm, and they will ignore it.

Proper Chicken Usage:

- Find a good hiding spot, and stay out of sight of enemies. This is especially important if you have low Sneak skills.

- Summon the Golden Chicken as far away from yourself, and as close to the enemies, as possible. If the enemies don't spot the chicken, it will simply run back to you.

- The chicken will run away as soon as enemies engage it in combat. Make sure you summon it at a location that allows it to lead them away from you. If you summon it between hostile NPCs and yourself, it will run away from them, towards YOU. Guess how that will end?

- If the chicken successfully distracts your opponents, stay hidden until they move some distance away. Coming out of hiding too soon will draw attention to you and make the poor chicken's efforts pointless.

Note that this spell is a tool to aid you in your adventures, not a magic fix for poor stealth skills. A bit of common sense and tactical thinking will help you get the most out of the mod. If that fails, you can always keep it for its entertainment value :P

If subtlety is not your thing, you may want to check out Revenge of the Golden Chicken.

Many thanks to iDamiaNe for allowing me to use textures from his iChicken mod. If you don't have that mod already, I recommend you get it. Your chickens will be grateful.
