About this mod

A luxury base with a decorative laboratory, restaurant, towers, caves, two artificial islands, and huge gardening facilities! Made in a survival mode save file.

This base was made for those who want a quick jump start on having a luxury safe shallows base towards the beginning of survival mode. It was made to combine convenience with a pleasing and homey aesthetic.

Since this base was made in a survival mode save file, the story can still be played to completion. Be warned, however, that it contains spoilers, so if you haven't played through story mode yet, you may want to wait to use this save file.

Things it includes that you may want to avoid if you haven't played the story yet (no spoilers in this list):

  • Every type of plant species in the game.
  • Every herbivorous creature in the game except for three rather large ones that wouldn't fit in an Alien Containment Unit.
  • Pictures of Subnautica concept art that contain biome spoilers and endgame spoilers.
  • All tools in the game are already in your possession.
  • All blueprints have been obtained.
  • Includes uncustomized cyclops, seamoth, and prawn suit.

Spoiler (highlight this line to see): The story is currently at the point after the Aurora explodes, but before the first radio message has been listened to.
Other notes:

  • Depending on your system, this base may cause a few FPS lag issues. I get a range of anywhere from 16 to 80 FPS on my custom AMD system. If you experience these issues, try pressing F3, then F8, then setting texture quality to 3. This information may also help.
  • The safe shallows caves around the base are well-lit thanks to lights I placed, but don't be surprised if certain... unpleasant inhabitants are still inside. If you've played Subnautica, you'll know what I'm referencing, but if you haven't, all I can say is bring a health kit or two!

----------

This save requires a few mods to work correctly:

I also recommend these mods for an improved experience, although they are not required:

  • Radial Tabs (avoids issue of some fabricator items being off screen)
  • Cheat Manager (makes customization easier if you wish to use console commands)
  • Customized Storage (makes lockers and personal storage hold more - highly recommended)
  • More Quick Slots (allows you to use the provided tools more easily)

----------

To add this save file to your game:

1: Download it to your normal downloads folder.
2: Extract the save file to:
  • On Steam for Windows 10 PC, go to your files, then \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Subnautica\SNAppData\SavedGames.
  • On Epic Games Launcher for Windows 10 PC, then C:\Users{username}\AppData\LocalLow\Unknown Worlds\Subnautica\Subnautica\SavedGames.
  • On Mac, go to ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Subnautica/SNAppData/SavedGames/.
3: Rename it to have a different last digit, ie., slot000# where # is a unique, unused digit.
4: When loading up the save file, you will start on top of your lifepod, facing the Aurora.

  • You can add your own pictures by adding them to the screenshots folder within the save file. They should be 16:9 aspect ratio to work properly.
