TF2 Translator has been designed to convert Transport Fever 2 language files from .mo to an easy to edit .txt file and back from .txt to .mo format.

Once unzipped, this tool doesn't need installation.
Just be sure to backup your base.mo and res.mo language files before any edit.
These language files are usualy in :
Steam\steamapps\common\transport Fever 2\res\strings\your language\LC_MESSAGES\

You can use this tool in 2 ways for the same result :
- simply drag and drop any language file over the exe and it will convert it to the other format (converting a .txt into an .mo file and an .mo into a .txt file).
- alternatively, you can first start the tool, select a source file and hit the convert button.
Resulting .txt file has a simple format :
A line increment, a tab, and the translated string into curvy brackets.
And that's all.

So all you have to take care is keeping your new text into curvy brackets and everything will be fine.
And if you ever unfortunatly removed a bracket, the tool will warn you about it at convertion time :)

IMPORTANT NOTE : The .mo files are storing some other informations I don't understand yet. For this reason, this tool doesn't recreate a complete .mo file from a .txt file but rather patches the existing .mo file with the changes done in the .txt file.
This means YOU MUST HAVE the corresponding .mo file (base or res) aside the .txt file for the .txt to .mo conversion to work (otherwise, the tool will remain you to place both .mo and .txt file in the same folder anyway).

I hope this tool will ease the life of modders who noticed some piece of dialogs not converted or to fix some particular ones.

Enjoy :)

PS : I heard Train Fever and Transport Fever may use the same .mo files. As I don't have these games, I can't test but this tool could work with them too if the format kept unchanged.

History:
v1.1 : identified original names and translated lines in .txt files. Added a note about it in the informations file joined in the archive.
