Higly customized 9KM map using real world heightmaps for realistic mountain landscapes, many custom events built into the map such as military checkpoints, convoys, prisoner transports and many many more. Over 35 new challenges/quests with their own silly little stories and new ways to challenge your true skills.

Crafting this adventure took me well over 750 hours, almost everything on this map has been customized by hand. There will likely be an update to this map in the following weeks with a couple tweaks and the last heightmap brushups.

If you are new to Darkness Falls don't try this adventure yet, enjoy the 'vanilla' DF experience first or die crying.


This adventure takes places a couple years earlier than what you are used to, there are fresh bodybags and world events all over the place which need to be destroyed to stop the zombies from spawning and overwhelming you. When harvested, these bodybags will have a very low chance of dropping challenge or quest notes and decent chance of dropping note snippets which can be crafted into the 30 new challenge and quest notes. There is also a small chance of finding DF legendaries from destroying these fresh body bags.

Summary:

* 35 new quests / challenges included ranging between medium to insane difficulty. 

* 400+ POIs have new challenges built into them using the fresh body bags and offering additional loot for those who survive them. 

* Over 25 larger world events using fresh bodybags were placed across the map. 

* Real world based mountains and valleys. 

* Very dense cities with many boring POIs filtered out and replaced by personal favorites. 

* Highly militarized map. 

* Over 9000 zombies got hurt during the production of this adventure.

* Many great new POIs you haven't seen before in Darkness Falls, thanks the finest prefab builders out there who allowed the use and redistribution of their POIs, they are listed at the bottom, please upvote their uploads!

* Consider raising max. zombie count to 80+

* Consider playing this adventure map on one difficulty lower than you are used to, to compensate for what is to come.

* Consider playing this adventure on 75-85% XP rate, the end game will be extremely harsh on this map and should not be rushed into. 

* Try to always clear any nearby world deco or other body bags before launching any type of quest, but the custom quests are particularly sensitive to this.

* New quests are not gamestage based, so pay attention to their crafting cost (=difficulty) when you find any, before accepting / mindless rushing in Leroy Jenkins style and dying like an idiot. 



Disclaimers / read this when you run into issues: 
*ModLauncher use is not supported for this map, you need to install DF manually following the guide in Darkness Falls discord FAQ. 
*It's advised to use a clean copy of DF for this because it also changes some other stuff. 

Dedicated Multiplayer is not officially supported for this map, multiplayer through steam should be fine.
If you are going to try and host this on your server anyway you will need: 
-To remove the custom quests and challenges from this map yourself, most of these are not supported in multiplayer due to poor 7D2D optimization for high zombie counts and the overall pathetic state of the multiplayer questing system.
1. To setup a very high amount of reset zones in order to properly reset traps and challenge POIs for other players (not advised), OR:
2. To use resetunclaimed at least daily to keep traps and challenge POIs functional. 
2a. -To prevent POIs from being claimed when using restunclaimed (advised).

Besides that you should:
-Limit max. online players to 10 or less while setting max zombie count to at least 80 zombies.
-Have a dedicated machine with plenty of CPU power, RAM and NVMe drives for high disk i/o.
-Have (or be) a very experienced server administrator to deal with the additional issues this map will have in multiplayer.

Special shout out to Deverieaux, ZZTong and MichealPLogue for their creativity among so many POIs. This map is using spawn blocks based of a script made by Mythix, without her the map would not have been as gamestaged as it is now, which is a huge improvement. Thanks to I Don't Care I survived the required xpath for this map. Also would like to thank Khaine for allowing the use of DF assets for this map in some custom prefabs and Murphy/Jesse for helping test out this adventure and point out some critical improvements.
