There is an FPS hit of around 20-30 that's visible in the screenshots but I lock my FPS to 50 so anything above it I don't consider a loss. Cities are different I sit around 40 there with the same settings.
Updated for V1.4 Stable ( Due to optimizations quality has been increased, changes below)

Until I figure out how to turn this into a Harmony mod that can simply be dropped into the mods folder (what a headache)
EAC = Disabled
NOTE: This does NOT add new things to your world, it only makes already spawned things visible from further out. My screenshots show my biomes have increased Foliage, etc. it's a personal mod I've created that I may or may not upload.
Create a backup of Assembly-CSharp.dll in 7 Days To Die\7DaysToDie_Data\Managed to undo this mod at any time without having to validate files.
Unzip and Copy the folder to your default installation within 7DaysToDie_Data directory and accept the overwrite, you can navigate to the Managed folder yourself and drop the dll in there yourself.
You can try this out in game now without any mod. Open the Console and type gfx lodbias and add any number
for example console command:
gfx lodbias 8
to see the difference it can do, to undo the change simple remove the number and it reverts to the Video setting for Object Quality you have set. You can also change any setting in Video Settings and apply. It will undo this change.
Reverting through console:
gfx lodbias
This has to be entered every time you load back into the game, hence why I created this to avoid forgetting the game can look better and I can avoid all that damage to my now (flimsy) vehicle!
This changes the distance of things like cactus, stop signs, trash bags, bushes, etc. and the LOD of trees turning from static to 3D
This is tied to Object Quality in Video Settings! Change through this setting in the menu to see the new differences. The distance of Ultra is now Medium under this mod. So if you play with ultra just fine, you can play with Medium no different. High (I consider it Ultra+) exceeds Default Ultra and Ultra is now basically Extreme
LodBias (Default) - Lowest 0.5, Low 0.65, Medium 0.8, High 1.2, Ultra 1.7
LodBias (Old A21) - Unchanged 0.5, Low 0.8, Medium 1.7, High 2.8, Ultra 4
LodBias (New) - Unchanged 0.5, Low 2, Medium 3, High 5, Ultra 7
Your FPS may drop a lot! I played at 8 but I also don't care for my FPS to be high in this game. I have gone up to 15 and yes it does keep going that insanely high and without much issue but I have my own preference.
However I love the increase of things I may drive into without being able to avoid it. I do play with the vehicle turbo speeds increased! It also looks great seeing a lot of the blank filled in.
Incompatible with any mod that overwrites Assembly-CSharp.dll
Issues? Check if the dll is blocked by right clicking on it and opening properties. You'll see at the bottom if it's blocked because it came from another computer. Simply unblock it. I tested it on another PC with it blocked and it worked though. YMMV
I do not recommend this for anyone that has problems with FPS already. If you feel you have headroom though, why not? I don't believe in developers crippling everyone based on people that still play on potatoes.
