About this mod

Buffs blades making bleed much stronger. It now stacks a lot faster with Deep cuts perk, and the bleed cap has been removed.

Permissions and credits
Tested for 1.1.b14 and 1.2

Why?
I always disliked how lackluster the bleed mechanic is, specially when you fully invest into the agility tree.

The fantasy of using blades that have less direct damage than other weapons, have no stun and no knockdown but makes the enemy bleed and ramp up the damage as you attack is something that I tried to achieve with this mod.

I tried other bleed mods, but either they don't work on 1.1 or they are not done correctly, so I tried to do it myself and share it.

Is it balanced?
I think it's fair enough.

The buff to bleed damage is huge but, realistically, by the time the bleed starts to ramp up, the enemy will be already dead just by hitting it.

I compared the kill times of Dire wolfs (2k+ hp) on Nomad/Warrior difficulties with machetes, clubs, sledgehammer and batons, all with LvL 5 of their respective skill, and machetes still got slightly lower dps, but pretty close.

With less hp enemies, most of the time I killed or decapitated them before the bleed started to grow too much.

Explanation of bleed mechanic (Vanilla)
  • Each stack of bleed deals 1 damage per second.
  • Light attacks always stack 1 bleed per attack (no scaling), up to 2/3/4/5/6/7. Only the cap scales with Deep Cuts perk (levels 0 to 5).
  • Heavy attacks stack 2/2/3/4/4/5 bleeds per attack, up to 2/3/4/5/6/7. Scales with Deep Cuts perk (levels 0 to 5).
  • So, with max level Deep cuts, the bleed does a maximum of 7 damage per second.

This damage is ridiculously low when you are fighting 300-800hp enemies in the early-mid game.
When I compare blades with clubs, sledgehammer or batons, I feel like they have not much flavour.

Changes
  • Removed the bleed cap.
  • Light attacks now stack 3/5/7/10/12/15 bleed per attack. Scales with Deep Cuts perk (levels 0 to 5)
  • Heavy attacks stack 3/5/7/10/12/15 bleed per attack. Scales with Deep Cuts perk (levels 0 to 5)
  • Buffed the serrated weapon mod to inflict a heavy bleed (50) with a 10% chance.
