It's been over 10 years since AVP was released and the norm for gaming was 1080p. Thankfully the AVP development team allows for resolutions up to 5K, however, the cutscenes were rendered in 720p. Playing the game in 4K results in super ugly pixelated cutscenes. Using Topaz's Ai Video Enhancer, this mod breathes fresh life into these cutscenes and are less jarring during transitions from game to cutscene.
Not only are the cutscenes upgraded, all the smaller prerendered videos throughout the main campaign have received a 2x resolution bump to their original sources resolution.
The main menu system also uses video backgrounds which have all been rendered in 4K as well.
To install:
Locate your AVP installation directory.
Replace the FMV folder in the main directory. (If you want to back up the originals you can, by placing them in a new folder in each directory. It doesn't matter though because you can always have Steam verify the integrity and it will replace the modded videos with the original 720p)
Steam\steamapps\common\Aliens vs Predator
Drag and drop the folder, say yes to replace files, and you're done!
NOTE: This mod is fully supported for ENGLISH language only. Other languages will play the cutscenes but with no sound.
