About this mod

Rebalances food and drink for residents. Reduces coffee consumption and shuffles around (luxury) needs: every tier now has at least two food(and not just chocolate, investors..) and one drink need. Details in description.

Permissions and credits
What this mod does, brief overview:
  • Every residential tier (workers and above) will have at least two food needs and one drink need (so not a diet of Chocolate, looking at you, Investors)
  • Reduces Coffee consumption so that you don't need a world supply of Coffee for your Engineers/Investors
  • Increases efficiency of the Canned Food chain (you will need less farms and factories)
  • Shuffles around luxuries and normal needs in some places

Update 1.0.5: Improved the UI positions of Bread and Canned Food and fixed Investors' Canned Food need unlock.

Ever wonder how Investors survive on a diet of chocolate? Or why something as basic as having a beer is considered a luxury to workers? Or why you need multiple islands worth of coffee production just to satisfy your investors? Here's my rebalancing of food and drinks to fix these annoyances and have a more balanced game ^^

-- DETAILED DESCRIPTION --
  • Moved Bread up one tier: Engineers now need it as well as Workers and Artisans. 
  • Moved Canned Food up one tier: Artisans no longer need it, Investors do need it.
  • Moved Beer from a luxury to a basic need to have a drink for Workers and Artisans.
  • Removed Sausages for Workers so that they need two foods and one drink like other tiers with this mod (too many pig farms anyways right?).
  • Significantly (~60%) increased the efficiency of the Canned Food chain.
  • This is because Investors will eat Canned Food, so making the chain perform better was a no-brainer (and long needed tbh).
  • You will need a LOT less factories to produce Canned Food.
  • You will need about half of the farms for the same amount of Canned Food.
  • The chain is now in a more comfortable ratio of factories and inputs, this is reflected in the game menu so no worries!
  • A side effect of this big productivity increase is that some factories/farms will require a warehouse more close-by!
  • Reduced the consumption of Coffee (and Rum) so that it falls more in line with reason.
  • (If playing with "The High Life" DLC): Moved Cognac from a basic need to a luxury need (provides extra happiness, population gain is moved elsewhere).
Important: Population/happiness gains from goods have been redistributed. You will have the same amount of population/happiness in a house.

NOTE: If you load this mod on an ongoing save, make sure to check your production/consumption of the goods touched! : )
NOTE 2: The Sausage and Canned Food chain unlocks are still in their respective tiers (Worker/Artisan) even if they don't use the good themselves.
  • This is intentional in light of compatibility and stability reasons.
