This mod adds a new small tugboat with a barge.

The idea to create this mod came from Harbour Ornaments 2.0 - Mod by muggenstuermer which made the hidden harbour ornament available as small trade ship via the "tow boat".

The ship model used in this mod is based on the vanilla workforce transfer ship, which was originally updated to be a fully usable trade ship including several skin variants by Ac3s and me. This one is included within the 'Combat Overhaul Mod' by Ac3s.

They way the game handles trailers attached to ships has some limitations:

  •   depending on wind direction, the attached barge is not always lined up to the ship, sometimes it hinges a bit to the left or to the right
  •   when the ship is leaving the session, the barge remains visible on the edge of the map until the ship arrives in the destination session
  •   the barge is not displayed in the world map

So my suggestion is to consider this mod more as some kind of "functional ornament“, preferably use it within the same session for small trade routes between islands close to each other.
Enjoy!

Conditions and costs:

  • ship unlocks as soon as you are able to build the steam shipyard
  • costs 300 maintenance / 2 influence points

timber       35
sails  5
steel beams     15
steam motors  10

Installation

  • Anno 1800 must be set-up to be able to use mods
(check for "Modification detected" message in main menu; anno1800-mod-loader is integrated since GU 17.0)
  • place the '[Ships] Tugboat + Barge' - folder into your Anno 1800\mods folder

Notes

This mod should be integratable in existing save-games at any stage; however once you remove the mod, the ship including items and cargo will be lost, trade routes using this ship no longer work.
Tested with latest version of Anno 1800 Game Update 17.1

Languages supported: German, English (other languages are displayed using English)

Thanks to Ac3s for sharing his knowledge and for letting me use parts of his work, Jakob for the tool "annotex" (https://github.com/jakobharder/annotex) and of course the Anno-Mod-Corner discord community. Credits also to muggenstuermer for the original idea to make this feature playable.
