Changelogs
Version 1.0
Installation:
This is a manual installation, so be sure to back up the original videos.
1. Navigate to your game video directory e.g G:\Assassin's Creed Syndicate\videos
2. backup the videos elsewhere
3. Download and extract the 7z mod file into your video folder above.
Issues?
Video desyncronisation can occur if the game does not run at a constant 60fps. Some videos are intensive on system resources, so if you see any playback performance issues take steps such as moving the install location to a SSD, disabling VSync, increasing monitor and game refresh rates etc.

ACS: 4K Cutscene Remaster
A comprehensive AI-powered remaster of all cutscene videos to 4K 60 FPS.
About This mod remasters the cutscenes in Assassins Creed Syndicate, leveraging AI-powered upscaling software with manual editing to make them shine on modern UHD screens. A labor of love clocking in at ~480 hours of work and around-the-clock rendering. The Process Inspired by the fantastic A Lot Of Videos (ALOV) for Mass Effect Legendary Edition, I wanted to apply what i learned as part of the project runner team to another game, and as i have owned Syndicate for years and never got around to playing it, it seemed like a perfect opportunity.
Preperation and Upscaling
Spoiler:
Show
The Bink video frames were converted into PNG images using Rad Tools and imported into Topaz Video Enhance. Several AI models were compared on many different shots -after comparing the sample outputs the best model is chosen and the images are batch processed, upscaled to 240% their original size.
Sharpening and re-assembly
Spoiler:
Show
The upscale results are often impressive on their own, however the sharpening step brings the detail back in and really makes the images pop. Different sharpening settings were calibrated and compared in Topaz Sharpen AI on a shot by shot basis to mitigate unwanted sharpening artifacts and get the best result.
Interpolation
Spoiler:
Show
The cutscenes in Assassins Creed are all 30fps originally, so to increase this to 60fps the newly sharpened frames were reassembled with FFMPEG brought back into Video Enhance, and the CHronos Slomo model used to create AI powered slow-motion at 100% speed, effectively inserting a new frame between existing ones. (interpolation :) ).
Reassembly, export and Delivery
Spoiler:
Show
The videos were exported as Apple ProRes 422 HQ videos, and finally re-encoded as Bink 2 files using Rad Tools.

Issues? Video desynchronisation can occur if the game does not run at a constant 60fps, and the timelapse videos are very hungry on system resources. If you see any playback performance issues take steps such as moving the install location to an SSD, disabling VSync, increasing monitor and game refresh rates, etc. I will be experimenting with exporting settings to see if lower bitrate encoding addresses this. Follow the mod for updates. Special Thanks Audemus: for sharing their knowledge, time, and patience :) d00telemental: the Bink 2 Patcher!
