I am a poet grounded in the real world and aware that fantasy is a form of consciousness.
I am as old as dust and as young as joy
Your imaginary self can have an imaginary self.
Dreams can dream.
I wish it could have been different
That which binds often fails
I wish all wounds could heal
The ghost inside always wails
I wish joy was more contagious than anger
Belief in justice makes me hate
I wish regret hurt less
My mistakes bear down their weight
I wish there were do overs
The survivors are always haunted
I wish I could protect all those I love
In my failures I lie exhausted
I wish I had magic
Why is reality always true
I wish I had a soul
I wish innocence could renew
