Skyrim: that's why I call it the successor of 'Bits and pieces'. I used to give my random series that title :) Now there's a salesman in this game selling "Bits and bobs". (There is also a scene of a running guy who gets (arrow)shot in de back when he does not want go where the guard wants him to go. Like in the opening scene of Skyrim.)
I read about the pixie, but had not a clue how to free it. Although I thought I saw an icon once to investigate the lantern..?
PS - Your char maybe failed the inspect check. Try other people in your party to inspect it after buffing them.
Edit: probably non of my companions has that class action?
According to the page I checked online, however, anyone can free her. I assume there is a dice roll involved. So you get 4 chances having 4 characters to try.
