I am collating and updating all my finesse weapon mods to a single modpage for my sanity and yours. I am also intending to create a finesse mod for every weapon and an alternative for everyweapon that allows finesse only when two handed. You can pick and choose any combination.

This mod adds the Finesse tag to spears, allowing them to use Dexterity for attack rolls if the characters dex is higher than it's strength. It also allows them to be used for rogues sneak attacks.

This should be compatible with any mod that doesnt edit spear data. Specifically the following files and file entries:

Stats\Generated\Data\Weapon.txt
  • new entry "WPN_Spear"
  • new entry "WPN_Spear_1"
  • new entry "WPN_Spear_2"

Any mod that uses the same UUID will not show up in the mod manager: 37536763-d4ca-4cbf-b831-01e241520bd0
To install;
  • In the top bar of Baldurs Gate 3 Mod Manager, in the shortcuts section open the mods folder
  • extract the .pak to that folder
  • click refresh in the mod manager or restart the program
  • drag the mod from th right hand list to the left
  • If you want to ensure this mod overwrites any incompatible mods changes place it below the other mod. if your installing it to an existing save game thats already modded, i reccomend putting it high in the list.
  • click the export to game button
  • done
I do not reccomend or endorse any other mod managers or install methods.
While i've not used nexus mod manager for this game, i have tried it many times on others and frankly it doesn't just suck, it will likely harm your files, requiring full game reinstalls when trying to uninstall mods. It does not clean up after itself and it's virtual file system is not at all virtual.
But if it works for you and your comfortable troubleshooting it yourself then go for it.

FAQ:
  • Why 0.1?  while it appears to work perfectly in my playthrough so far, the anecdotal experience of one playthrough of one user is not a big enough sample size to confidently call this finished.
  • Is this balanced and lore friendly? I don't care. it's your build, your mod list and your game, it's impossible for me to judge the balance.
  • Can make a version with X? if you ask nicely i will consider it. most of my skyrim mods were made at the request of users.
