** UPDATE 0.6 **
----------------------------------

- Added support for all TALL** races.

** Sorry short folks, Larian are doing something different with the visuals of hair for short races. Currently I have no idea what this is but it is preventing the mod from working for those races (Dwarf, Gnome, Halfling). If you'd like to help, there is a more detailed explanation in the posts section.

Coming next: Support for swapping multiple hairstyles at the same time.

----------------------------------

First things first, limitations:

  • Changes hair for everyone who uses that hairstyle in the game (but that can be cool too as you can change NPC hair).
  • Can only change hair style not color etc.
  • It will not change the character portrait
* Thank you so much t WalkingNerdThe - If you respec at Withers (then level up) it will change the portrait to the new hair.
  • For now you can only change one hairstyle at a time.*

* I will add the ability to change multiple hairstyles soon, I just wanted to make sure it worked for everyone first.

** Please note - Currently I think this mod conflicts with Appearance Edit Lite. If you are changing hair, the program says it is complete, but the hair isn't showing, please disable Appearance Edit Lite, restart the game and see if it shows. **

About the mod:

This is a standalone mod. It uses the information you provide to change the visuals on any vanilla hairstyles in the game to another vanilla hairstyle. So if you are stuck playing as a High Elf with a mohawk, on a 100+hr playthrough, you can now change it to look like any other hairstyle in the base game!

How to use the mod:

    1. Download and extract to any location.

    2. Run the BG3HairStyleChanger.exe.

    3. Follow the prompts and enter the details about your CURRENT character (Race, gender, size etc).

    4. Start a new game to open the in-game character creator and locate your current hairstyle, and also the one you want to change to.

    5. NOTE THE NAME OF EACH AND ENTER IT EXACTLY INTO THE CORRECT BOXES:

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT AS THIS IS WHAT IS USED TO LOCATE THE HAIR IN THE GAME FILES.

    6. Browse to your BG3 install folder, this will usually be something like: E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3

    7. Press Convert!

    8. Restart the game if it was still running.

    You are done!

The program will search for your old hair and new hair in the game files, create a file replacer, and put it in the correct place in your BG3 install folder.

Read the output if you like...

    HOW TO UNINSTALL:
To remove all changes this mod made simply delete any files in the "Baldurs Gate 3\Data\Public\Shared\CharacterCreation" folder.
    Specifically this mod adds either/both:
    - CharacterCreationAppearanceVisuals.lsx
    - CharacterCreationSharedVisuals.lsx
Any other files in this folder probably came from other mods, which you may want to keep.

    Compatibility:
This mod should work with any other mod that ADDS hairs. Any mods that install hairs as a REPLACER will might have conflicts with this mod. It depends if the overwrite the 3D file (fine) or the .lsx file (will conflict).

To clarify, it won't break mods that add hairs, like Tav's hair pack, but you can't swap these hairs yet either. Only Vanilla hairs can be swapped. I will be working on adding modded hair support just as soon as I get this stable and working well enough with vanilla hairs.

    Future Updates:
I plan to add support for more races and mods (Tav's hairpack for example). This shouldn't be hard to do as the mod does all the searching itself so just needs some basic parameters. I work fulltime though so I am not sure when I will get round to this. Just wanted to get this out ASAP for those suffering a 200hr playthrough with the wrong hair!

    Bugs:
I am certain there are many many bugs. I have only briefly tested this, it worked for my few use cases, but who knows if it will work for anything else. If you find a bug, please report it in the bugs section. As I said, I work full time, so I may fix it when I get a chance...

    Support:
As I have said, I work, I don't get paid for doing this mod. If you want to help you can donate at the link below. This means I have to take less overtime and can work more on the mod. I can't promise anything more than that.

Thank you for looking. Let me know how it goes!
