Due to an incorrect shapeshift rule, your Dream Guardian probably didn't show up when fighting against the Emperor if you customised their appearance. This mod fixes that by changing the shapeshift rule to no longer ignore custom looks!

Specifically, it alters the DisguiseKeepName shapeshift rule, which is used by three (kind of) things:
  • Disguise Self and it's many variants.
  • The Dream Guardian final battle sequence.
  • The Heart Mapped Mindflayer Form in the Temple of Shar.

The Ignore-Custom-Looks attribute tells the transform/shapeshift effect whether or not to use the appearance of the base template, or to use any changes that were done to that template. In vanilla, this is set to true. All this mod does is set it to false. This doesn't cause Disguise Self or the Heart Mapping to change in any way, as they transformed into root templates rather than local ones.

The vanilla files for the final battle attempt to set the dream guardians to match the appearance of your own, but uses the wrong shapeshift rule. It'll get the race and bodytype correct, but nothing else. Now it'll get it right!

The only thing it won't do is give your Dream Guardian a matching portrait, it'll still use the default one attached to your Dream Guardian's base appearance.

This mod is also available in the in-game mod manager, but personally I prefer Nexus and the BG3MM: especially with other mods that won't work on Mod.io.

Compatibility:

This should work with everything. Nothing really touches the shapeshift rules, and those that do usually make their own. This changes exactly one file, so there's not much that'll interfere with it.
