About this mod

Custom class utilizing the gear added in AvernusWarhound and DemonbreakerCaliver. UI is currently jank and does not show full list of proficiencies at char creation, nor Superiority Die on level up; but rest assured, functions in-game.

Changelogs
Known Issues - class is still in a semi-janky state when it comes to UX
  • Character Creation and Level Up UI doesn't show all class benefits currently, namely starting Proficiencies and Superiority Die accruement. They still are added in-game. Will look into fixing this, but class remains functional in the meantime.
  • Ability tooltips might not all be totally accurate currently, I need to do an editing pass. Burst-fire Caliver abilities will always show damage for only one shot in the burst, bear in mind. (until I can figure out how to display otherwise).
A Quick Note on Balance

I have no idea what I'm doing balance-wise atm lmao

Pick up Sharpshooter and try it out on the goofy 16-shot endgame ability, let me know what happens (Update: thankfully it seems like Sharpshooter does not apply to calivers, but you get the idea)

Changes to Demonbreaker Caliver
As of 1.1.1, this class mod specifically patches Demonbreaker Caliver to balance the Burst Calivers a bit. Specifically, the 5-shot and 7-shot once-per-turn abilities normally on the Rare and Very Rare Burst Calivers become Warhound-exclusive abilities with Superiority Die costs to further limit their usage.

Rare Burst Caliver instead gets a standard 2-shot burst attack and once-per-turn 4-shot burst attack.

Very Rare Burst Caliver instead gets a standard 3-shot burst attack and once-per-turn 4-shot burst attack.

Furthermore, as of 1.1.3, Burst Calivers have a built-in -3 attack penalty and slight base damage nerf (to offset stat creep from the weapon enchantments as-is)

Titan Calivers in 1.1.3 received a buff to base damage.

Additions to AvernusWarhound

1.1.5 adds two Legendary body armors that grant additional ability uses (once per Long Rest) and Superiority Die. Both can be looted/bought from the Hoarding Merregon in Yurgir's retinue. One is supposed to be looted from the Firestoker chest in Grymforge as well, but I haven't been able to get it to drop in-game.

The Grymforge body piece is tailored towards supporting Titan Calivers and grants one unique ability that can't be acquired from the levelling spell lists, whilst the Hoarding Merregon piece is more generalist.

Overview
This mod is built off of the assets and very loose uhh, mod-internal headcanon, ig, I've created the past month or two in AvernusWarhound and DemonbreakerCaliver; see those respective mod pages for more comprehensive equipment breakdowns/where they can be found

The Avernus Warhound class represents an otherwise unremarkable mortal Blood War conscript that relies heavily upon the unorthodox equipment they carry with them out of the Hells. Progression loosely reflects a less generalist Fighter, with abilities hyper-focused on the weapons from DemonbreakerCaliver. Superiority Die are used as a means to represent specialized ordnance which can be used with the Calivers to execute increasingly lethal maneuvers. Only two Warhound-specific abilities that can be selected are not exclusively tied to the Calivers, instead being special thrown explosives with debilitating effects on enemies.

The armor that the Warhound begins with is cumbersome, but does offer marginally better protection than what most are afforded.

The weaponry that the Warhound relies on is downright lethal, far beyond what can normally be found in the Material plane; but this lethality comes at the cost of being incredibly unwieldy, even moreso now that these bizarre weapons are being operated outside of the Hells. Adaptation to their new limitations will be necessary; but once acclimated, the Warhound can begin to make better use of the heaving array of ordnance they have that is tailored for these weapons.

Strengthened variants of armor and weapons that the Warhound is most familiar with can be found or purchased from relevant sources with their own ties to the Hells, but they won't come cheap.
