About this mod
Considering the build-defining power of the Arcane Acuity granting items in BG3, I always thought they were implemented in a very narratively unsatisfying way.
This mod aims to fix that. I have developed a bit of homebrew lore to try and spice these items up.
I have changed their descriptions, some names, and some stats.
- Permissions and credits
There is no guarantee I will do them, but it's entirely possible I will.
This is quite easily the most niche and specific to my tastes mod I have ever made, but I have a policy of releasing every mod I make to the public, even if I only made it for myself, just in case there are others like me.
- Because of how specific this mod is to me anyway, I will be using it as a "dumping ground" for any other miscellaneous mods I want to make. This is because I am lazy and cannot be bothered to make new workspaces and meta files for small mods.
- They will be included in the current main file, but I will leave old versions available in-case you don't like a change I made
This mod overhauls the following items in the following ways:
- Hat of Fire Acuity: Changed the name to Hat of Pyromancer's Majesty. Also updated the item description to give the item a new backstory involving a red-headed tiefling mage obsessed with her infernal heritage
- Hat of Storm Scion's Power: Buffed and changed the passive given by the hat to better reflect its "storm" nature; It now gives arcane acuity when dealing lightning damage as well as thunder. Also slightly changed the description to give the item a new backstory, involving an elven storm sorcerer who sought to further amplify and channel the power of his tempestuous blood
- Helmet of Arcane Acuity: Changed the appearance of the helmet to match the Adjustable Steel Helm, to match with the aesthetic of the Gloves of Battlemage's Power and because I always thought the original appearance was a bit mediocre. Additionally, changed the name to Helmet of the Superior Battlemage. Also updated the item description to give the item a new backstory, involving a human eldritch knight from the town of Reithwin who crafted a series of items to amplify and perfect his gish fighting style.
- Gloves of Battlemage's Power: Changed the passive given by the gloves to give 1 turn of Arcane Acuity on a weapon hit, like a nerfed version of the helmet; I did this because the original passive is just straight up broken (as in, it does not work) and I do not know how to fix it. Also updated the item description to give the item a new backstory, involving the same human eldritch knight from the description of the helmet.
The acquisition of these items is unchanged, but I did also stick them in the tutorial chest if you want to grab them early.
Since this mod is made using already existing assets, visuals are available for all races and body types as far as I am aware
