About this mod

I always felt like the Dark Urge only had their urges in dialogue. Now you can have them in combat, too, so you actually battle something within your character.

Dark Urge characters get an extra action upon killing, but may go mad if they don't continue harming others for the next 5 turns.

Just a little something I cobbeled together for myself. Test Upload due to me still being on patch 6. Should work on patch 7 but who knows. It works on my machine and is provided as-is, you can do with it whatever you want (if it needs to be patched for patch 7 feel free to do so and upload it, I won't update my game in the next weeks).

This mod gave me some inspiration, but it is apprearantly abandoned and not working correctly, so I didn't wanna touch it.

Whenever you kill someone as Dark Urge, you have to deal with the following consequences:

1: You gain one extra action (won't stack with elixier of bloodlust),
2: For the next 5 turns (excluding the current turn), you may go mad for 1 turn if you do not harm anyone [High Stakes Version: an enemy] during your turn. For now it's a con Save, DC:10. This includes turns taken out of combat.

Versions:

Only combat version: No saving throws outside of combat, additional action points from kills don't stack

Balanced version: Saving throws continue outside of combat, additional action points from kills don't stack

OP version: Saving throws continue outside of combat, additional action points from kills stack

High Stakes version: Saving throws continue outside of combat, additional action points from kills stack. However, you are only save from your urges if you hit an enemy during your turn. This means a lot of workarounds and powergaming won't save you. Groveling for Shart will.

Of course, there are various ways to play around the saving throws.
Stuff that also works for High Stakes Characters will be marked with [ALL], all other tips won't work for High Stakes Characters

Have gale summon a rat/cat/whatever for you to abuse. Throw/improvise weapon it, dont hit it! Simply bash it on the ground till it doesn't squeak any more. Or better: Bash it on the ground, and have your companions throw potions of healing next to it, so both of you get healed. Bonus points if you equip your cleric with the Hellriders Pride gloves and heal the rodent. Half the damage means double the abuse.

Do the same to Shovel.

Scratch.

Keep at least one dead rat in your inventory to throw at people Astarion.

Hit your companions.

Hit yourself (AOE arrows, throwables, spells).

[ALL]: Keep a weaker enemy around at the end of combat. Disarm them. Hit with weaker attacks (maby even unequip your weapon with you extra action from killing), dont finish them off with DU. Make them suffer. And then have your companions finish them off so you wont have to deal with the consequences.

[ALL]: Let your enemies do your job with crown of madness

[ALL]: Keep a cleric/whatever with command around (insanely useful spell for all occasions. If DU goes mad, make them grovel/Run away etc). Everyone likes to grovel for Shart. Hideous laughter is also perfect

[ALL]: Unequip your weapon on the end of combat (not that useful for caster DUs, but for everyone else). Getting hit by a fist is always better than getting hit by a hammer.

[ALL]: Hand your daddy a big fat L and turn on non-lethal attacks with DU

[ALL]: Jump off a cliff before shit possibly happens (cant be mad if dead). The worth of a single mortal life is only 200.

[ALL]: Toggle non lethal attacks for your allies and beat DU to the ground after combat. Madness means nothing if you can only crawl on the floor. Dont help DU up before 5 turns passed. You dont lose approval if THEY beat YOU.

[ALL]: Finally find an actual use for the sleep spell. Bonus points for nanny sorcerers with extended duration who sing a lullaby for DU.

[ALL]: Equip Shart with the Selunes Chosen amulet from the Treasure Pile in the shattered sanctum (she loves Selune stuff, trust me), and make her use Selunes dream on you.

[ALL]: AOEs that hit for half damage if the targets hit the DC, Tenacity, and Magic Missile are your friends.

[ALL]: Bless is S tier for a reason

[ALL]: Undress Minthara

[ALL]: Don't play a Cleric of Light (or any Wisdom caster...) with access to Fireball and Scorching Ray. Just don't.

Works for existing characters and should be save to install/uninstall (at least I didn't find any bugs).

Implementation:
You gain two passives through the "Haunted One" background, one activates on a kill and gives you the extra action and the 5 turns madness battle, the other one gives you 1 turn of savety when damaging a character. Rest is in the second screenshot.

You can do with this whatever you want, I don't care:)
