Embrace the power of your fallen foes with the Path of the Skull Collector, a highly customizable subclass for the Barbarian in Baldur's Gate 3. As a Skull Collector, you can gather and bind yourself to the skulls of mighty warriors, harnessing their strength, unique abilities, and spells. These bonds last until your next long rest and grant a variety of custom passives and powers tied to the fallen champions.
As you progress, you unlock the ability to bind with multiple skulls simultaneously, offering near-endless combinations of buffs, spells, and playstyles. By level 12, you can bind up to four skulls at once, making you adaptable to any challenge the game throws your way. This mod features over 150 custom/modified abilities, including 38 unique skulls and binding skills, 41 custom/modified passives, 13 custom summonable creatures, and a crafting path to produce the Skull Collector's own weapon of power.
Collect Skulls from Fallen Opponents
To begin your collection, you must first defeat your enemies and collect their skulls from their bodies. Once you have a skull and have a soul-binding charge from the Barbarian Skull Collector subclass, you can right-click on the collected skulls in your inventory and 'bind' with them to enhance your abilities. You may bind with multiple skulls equal to your soul binding charges. Charges will be further unlocked as you reach certain levels in the subclass.

Mod Compatibility
I am currently not aware of any incompatibilities with other mods. This mod does overwrite some of the root templates for various bosses/NPCs and may run into some issues in others that have done the same.

Author's Notes
I am in the process of play testing a full run with the subclass to help balance test the class. I am intending the class to have a bit of an edge (a heavy edge?) over the core barbarian subclasses. As mentioned above, please report anything you feel is over/under tuned. I am anticipating some imbalance through the first several iteration of Skull Collector as we iron out the finer details. Below is my stretch list of known issues and features I would eventually like to add.

Primary Goals (within current skillset)
[Polish] Rework of Skull Collector Class Description/Initial selection screen to create a similar experience to core subclasses.- [Polish] Add custom icons and visual models for skulls, crafting items, and weapons.
[Content] Additional Skulls/Skillsets.[QOL] Add a custom bag to auto collect skulls in to reduce inventory clutter.
Extended Goals (outside current skillset)
- [Polish] Create or upgrade visual FX for custom skills.
- [Compatibility] Remove the overwrite features on existing NPCs and create an Osiris-based drop system for mobs without existing TreasureTables.
[QOL] Create custom containers (ie. Command having multiple spells) for each Skull to reduce hotbar clutter.- [QOL] Filter Skull skillsets into Barbarian tab instead of General tab on the hotbar.
Subclass Features & Progression Path
*Soul Collector has a spellcasting modifier based on Constitution.
Subclass begins with 1 Soul Essence, 2 Infernal Ember, and 1 Spectral Flame.
Additional 1 Soul Essence, 2 Infernal Embers, and 1 Spectral Flame charges will be added at levels 5, 8, and 12.
Level 3
Soul Charge 1, Speak with the Dead, Collecting Skulls – Begin collecting your first skulls and connect with the spirits of the departed.
Soul Reaver Passive: Restores 1 Infernal Ember on a killing blow.
Level 4
Soul Perception – Gain a +2 bonus to attack rolls, initiative, and perception, sharpening your battle instincts.
Level 5
Soul Charge 2 – Increase the number of skulls you can bind simultaneously, enhancing your flexibility in combat.
Level 6
Wound Closure – Auto-stabilize when downed, ensuring you rise again even in dire situations.
Level 7
Wraith's Retaliation – Gain an extra reaction to counterattack with a vengeful strike, fueled by the spirits you've collected.
Level 8
Soul Charge 3 – Further enhance your skull-binding potential, opening new strategic options in battle.
Level 9
Spirit of the Warrior – If you miss with a weapon attack, you gain an immediate second attack, ensuring you never back down in the heat of combat.
Level 10
Vengeful Shadows – Perform opportunity attacks when enemies move into your range, striking with deadly precision.
Level 11
Spectral Fury – Whenever an enemy targets you with an attack, gain 2 wrath, allowing you to harness the fury of your foes.
Level 12
Soul Charge 4 – Maximize your power by binding up to four skulls, granting you unprecedented flexibility and dominance in battle.
