No new game required.
Only vanilla assets used. No other mods needed.
This is the first part of my NPC Redesign, covering the Tieflings.
Find the second already completed part here: NPC Revamp - Druids
Why the mod?
I think the devs did a solid job designing NPC's. But I feel there is still quite a bit of room for improvement. Untapped immersion potential. - All personal taste of course. Starting out, I am focusing on the tiefling refugees in Act 1. In my eyes they are among the most urgent cases. Given their rather dramatic backstory, I feel that their gear just looks too shiny and their appearance too... generic to immerse me. Especially Zevlor, their leader. - Always felt he didn't look like a badass rugged veteran. So I tried to change that. And Dammon the blacksmith. - Just wanted him to look less generic, more distinct. That's how this project started. I felt the need to reflect these unpleasant events in the way the refugees look. So far, the tiefling refugees (45 NPC) are done. They have gotten their makeover. I think the druids are next.
Installation:
Install with BG3 Mod Manager or Vortex and enjoy!
Wanna see some of the redesigned characters in action? MasterBok showcases some of them here (end of the video):
Compatibility:
iRavenVI was so kind to make a patch for Alfira Joins The Party!
Using other NPC overhaul mods? Like some of their redesigns better? Or all of them? Simply put the other mods after mine in the BG3 Mod Manager load order. (Think the same goes for Vortex? Or maybe they must be higher in the load order there? Not entirely sure. But should work one way or the other.). Some of the other overhauls are even modular and let you pick which individual NPC you want to replace or not. That way you can mix and match to your heart's content.
My other mods:
NPC Revamp - Druids
Minthara's new look
Shadowheart incognito
Lae'zel's new armor
Only vanilla assets used. No other mods needed.

Info from the web:
Basically in 'Descent to Avernus', the holy city of Elturel, where the Tieflings come from, was dragged into hell. Eventually, the city was saved and returned to the material plane, but if we're operating under the assumption that the comics tell the canonical version of what happens (which seems to be the case), nobody knows why. Many of the people in Elturel, being quite racist, decided that it's the fault of the Tieflings, people who have fiendish ancestry. Because of this, they throw the Tieflings out and they decided to head to Baldur's Gate, which is the nearest major city.
