Do you like using magic? Do you like playing as a wizard, warlock, or sorcerer? Do you want to cast spells without being limited by the number of spell slots? If you answered 'yes' to any of these questions, then this mod is for you.
Once installed, you will receive Merlock's Amulet in the Traveller's Chest, which will grant the passive ability to cast spells without using spell slots. All spells will be free to cast each turn both in and out of combat. This (basically) allows the player to use spells like cantrips (without actually turning them into cantrips).
You can activate/deactivate the ability at will, and there are no rest limits imposed for doing so. And if this wasn't absurdly powerful enough, you can even activate this ability when you are out of spell slots.
Installation
- Download the .pak file and place in your local Mod folder (e.g., ..\[user]\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Mods
- Install using BG3ModManager or Mod.io
How to Use
- Equip the amulet and then go to your Passives.
- Click on the new icon (the one with the wizard wearing a hat) to enable this ability.
- Spells that can be freely cast will start to glow (Cantrips are unaffected). This means they can be used without using a spell slot.
- If you want to go back to using spell slots, click on the same wizard icon to deactivate the ability.
Important Information / Limitations
- This mod does NOT create any new spells. If you have another mod enabled that grants NEW spells, this mod should work fine as long as the new spells have been defined to use the existing spell slot system.
- This mod does NOT grant you access to higher level spells. You must already have access to spells and be able to cast them. So all other existing spell requirements remain unchanged.
- Reaction spells (e.g., Hellish Rebuke) are unaffected by this mod and will continue to use spell slots. These will need to be recovered as per their existing requirements.
- Under certain circumstances, if the character with the equipped amulet has their form changed (e.g., transformed into a sheep and then back again), the passive ability may vanish from the toolbar. If this happens, re-equip the amulet and toggle the passive on again.
