Four Elements Monk spells now function as spells when interacting with items like Hat of Uninhibited Kushigo or passive features like Tempestous Magic.

Every time I play through BG3, I see the Hat of Uninhibited Kushigo and I think, that would be perfect for a Four Elements Monk. Also, wouldn't it be cool if you could multiclass with Storm Sorcerer and fly after using Fangs of the Fire Snake? Except neither of those ideas actually work, unfortunately.
In the vanilla game, spells used by Four Elements Monk "do not benefit from items that apply only to spells," which includes both the hat and the Tempestous Magic passive (source).
This is a really simple mod that just adds the "IsSpell" flag to monk spells to bypass this restriction. This means that monk spells from the Four Elements subclass will interact with ALL items, passives, and feats the way any other spells do.
How does this mod interact with:
Items - works as spells normally do
Tempestous Magic - works
Spell Sniper (reduce crit threshold by 1 when attacking with spell) - UNTESTED as of right now; if you notice it working or not, let me know and I'll update this
Silenced - CAN still cast spells while Silenced
Raging - can NOT still cast spells
Counterspelled - Counterspell DOES affect monk spells now
Metamagic - works
Compatibility
I've added a compatibility patch with CreativeExcuses' Master of All Four Elements mod, with permission. So go forth and live out your Avatar dreams
Otherwise, the only mods that will conflict with mine will be those that modify monk spell definitions. All others should work fine.
