Translations
Your bite evolves as you feed on new creature types. You start with creatures with blood - humanoids, monstrosities, fey etc - and as you bite them your Bite evolves into a version that drains life energy instead of blood which lets you bite plants, oozes, undead & constructs.
Vampire Bite Evolution:
- Vampire Bite I - the default version.
- Vampire Bite II - can be used on Plants and Oozes.
- Vampire Bite III - can be used on Elementals and counts as Magical for the purposes of overcoming resistances.
- Vampire Bite IV - can be used on Constructs and Undead.
- Vampire Bite V - upgrades Happy & Weak (Astarion now gets it for biting any creature, not just humanoid).
- Vampire Bite VI - upgrades Happy & Weak again (Astarion now gets + 10 to movement in addition to previous bonuses).
- Vampire Bite VII - upgrades Happy & Weak again (Astarion now gets + 2 bonus (instead of +1) to attacks, ability/skill checks and saves).
Compatible with Interesting Origins (starting with version 1.0.0.24)
Siphon Powers of your Enemies!
Every new creature Astarion bites unlocks a temporary Infusion, like Vampiric Infusion – Intellect Devourer or Vampiric Infusion – Toll Collector. Infusions provide all sorts of benefits — bonus damage , resistances. special Bites and and in rare cases even visual transformations (see the attached screenshots)! All Infusions last until your next long rest.
Temporary Infusion aren't enough? Well, bite all or the majority of different creatures (Skeleton, Death Knight, Vampire etc) of a single Type (Undead etc), and you’ll earn a reward - a powerful permanent buff. Get permanent buffs for all Types and you'll become the Apex Predator of the Forgotten Realms.
There are almost 150 Infusions, more than 30 new Bites and 13 powerful permanent buffs for you to discover.
Bite twice as often!
To allow you get as many infusions as you want the following changes have been made to the Bite:
- You can now use it twice per Short Rest instead of just once, but the damage & healing effects from it have been reduced to 1d4;
- I've also fixed the tooltip - it now shows correct damage instead of adding both damage and healing and displaying it as total damage. See the attached screenshots for comparison of the old and new Bites.
Use
Astarion now writes about his tasting experiments in the Journal — both progression toward Bite upgrades and records of who (or what) he’s bitten. See the attached screenshots - there are two separate quests, one is about evolving your Bite and one is about biting as many creatures as you can.
Important Notes:
- Patch 8 and later version only.
- Compatible with Interesting Origins (starting with version 1.0.0.24!)
- Removing the mod most likely will lead to issues with savegames made with it (as the mod completely replaces the default Bite of Astarion with new ones).
- Humanoids, Beasts, Party Members and Followers don’t give Infusions.
- The mod affects only Astarion and doesn't give infusions to the Player even if they became a vampire spawn.
- Journal Entries are closed automatically when you reach the Epilogue or if Astarion leaves the party.
- Ascendant Bite changes:
- Doesn't give you Infusion (it's powerful as it is already).
- But the upgrades for the main Bite (improved Happy & Week, ability to bite Constructs etc) are transferred to the Ascendant Bite if it's unlocked.
- I've also fixed the tooltip for it the same way as I did for the regular Bite - it now shows correct damage instead of adding both damage and healing and displaying it as total damage.
Changelog
23.05.2025
- The mod is now compatible with Interesting Origins (aka using Astarion's Vampire Bite I - Vampire Bite VII now counts towards getting Vampire Ranks from Interesting Origins). Mod order shouldn't matter.
- Fixed a bug with biting a Scrying Eye giving a journal entry & buff for a
generic "Construct" instead of a journal entry & buff specific to Scrying Eyes.
- Fixed a bug with biting the Apostle not giving a buff and not updating the journal.
- Fixed Lesser Restoration not removing the negative debuff from the Bite from your party members
- Journal now has more detailed entries about what creatures Astarion needs to bite.
