Longswords have suffered great injustice of making them default strength swords in gaming while in reality having dexterous hands and nimble fingers are much more important in making use of various grips that allow for many a technique to END THE OPPONENT RIGHTLY (no I've not implemented throwing a pommel at the enemy). This mod fixes that injustice by adding the finesse modifier to this historical weapon, allowing it to be used as precise and elegant as historical Longsword fighting actually is.
I truly believe that longswords should not be an exclusively STR based as in typical longsword fight strength doesn't matter as much as DEX. As illustrated by many Historical European Martial Arts sparring videos such as this one.
Is this mod balanced? I don't necessarily care. Many table-top D&D Dungeon Masters allow using DEX modifiers for longswords as part of their Homebrew rules. Interpret this as my own Homebrew rule that you have an option to download and implement into your virtual Dragoons and Basements game.
Once again, shoutout to Digineaux for if I didn't study the file structure and values modified by their Finesse Spears mod, I would not be able to make Finesse Longswords. Check out their mods and consider giving them an endorsement.
