The 5E Spells mod is something I consider near-mandatory for my game, largely because of the inclusion of well-loved cantrips such as Booming Blade and Green Flame Blade that drastically increase the viability of gish/spellsword builds. Eldritch Knight and Arcane Trickster get some much-needed buffs from these inclusions, in particular. However, issues arise when adding specific gear on top of these new cantrips that end up boosting their power to be higher than likely intended. This mod is aimed at slightly reworking these passives to provide what I consider to be a better balanced experience without messing with their unique feel.

Details:
  • In Vanilla, these passives add your spellcasting modifier to each instance of damage, rather than each attack. So, for example, a Warlock with 20 Charisma adds +5 damage to both the melee hit and the thunder damage when using Booming Blade, even though there was only one attack made
  • All this mod does is change the bonuses to be half as effective on cantrips that use a melee weapon attack
  • You're still getting your spellcasting modifier added to damage, it's just not double-dipping anymore
  • The passive descriptions have also been reworded to better convey how they now work

Installation:
Please save yourself the hassle and just use the BG3 Mod Manager to install. I do not recommend uninstalling this mod at any point during a playthrough. I will be unable to provide troubleshooting assistance if you decide to do so.

Requirements:
This mod has no specific requirements, not even the 5E Spells mod. If you decide not to download that mod, then this mod will change nothing about your gameplay experience.
