If you remember the old description you deserve a veteran's discount but anyways: thank you all so much for the support and love. When I first published this in November I was brand new to serious modding and at the time it felt like a huge feat; now, with a lot more experience under my belt, I've finally updated this to fix some problems I didn't realize that were there in the first versions. Thank you for your patience and support, and there will definitely be more hairs coming now that I've figured out what I'm doing! 💖
THIS MOD CONTAINS
Nine different hairs, each one with its own custom name (as shown in the gallery above), as well as custom icons.

Almost all of the hairs are available to all bodies and races except for a couple of them (specified in the gallery).
KNOWN ISSUES
- Most of the hairs have physics but some of them are a little wonky. Nothing gamebreaking, but there might be weird deformations on some animations.
- Some of the highlights might look a little weird due to the meshes, and adding custom highlights would mean transparency issues that I'd rather not have. If that's the case, I recommend playing around with the graying slider, too, so you can get the highlighted hair you desire.
- There's also bound to be some clipping depending on the outfits you equip, especially ones with collars, or with the ears of certain races (elves, githyanki, etc).
- In the Prince of the Gate hairstyle, the accessories might look a little crunchy and deform in weird ways depending on the race and body type.
PATCHES AND COMPATIBILITY FOR CUSTOM RACES
As of Ver 1.1.1 (April 2024), I've reestructured the way patches for custom race mods work to keep the mod files tidier. The base mod itself only works on the vanilla races; but if you're interested in using these with race mods, I've created an optional file that makes them compatible with the race mods listed down below:
- Spirited Seasons - Playable Fey Eladrin by tepkunset
- Ghastly Ghouls - Playable Undead Race by ghouls0rules
- Whispers of the Divine - Aasimar Race by Trips
- Secrets of the Serpent - Playable Yuan-ti by tepkunset
- Forest Friends - Playable Firbolgs by tepkunset
- Elemental Power - Playable Genasi by tepkunset
To use it, you need to download the patch listed in the Optional Files and load it into your mod manager in this order:

The following races also have compatibility, but the compatibility patches aren't maintained by me, and I can't guarantee they'll be updated or account for the newer versions:
- Half-Angel (Aasimar 5E) - original mod by DarthRen, patched by BugatiiXxXEchelon
- Half-Dragon - original mod by johauna, patched by BugatiiXxXEchelon
These won't be compatible with any other custom races that aren't included unless patched. If you're the author of a custom race mod, feel free to reach out to me so I can make a patch!
To any other modders: you have blanket permission to patch these hairs for custom races or translate them into other languages (but please notify
me when you're done, though!) That being said, as explained beforehand, I'm not responsible for any of the race patches that aren't maintained by me.
For anything else that involves modifying these hairs and uploading them publicly, or other stuff like including them in NPC/companion edits, please contact me beforehand.
You can port these to other games as long as you don't paywall them or otherwise make money from them.
HOW TO INSTALL (AND UNINSTALL)
You need Improved UI for this mod to work. If you're playing on a version older than Patch 7, you'll also need Mod Fixer.
I highly recommend installing this with the BG3 Mod Manager. You can technically use Vortex, too, but there might be some issues; so, if in doubt, use BG3MM. I can't provide any help or support with installing this mod through Vortex or manually, since I don't use these methods myself.
To install: Download the .zip file, extract it, drop the .pak file onto the BG3MM, move it to the Active Mods column, and you're done!
To uninstall: Simply move the mod to the Inactive Mods column or delete it.
If installing this mod with the in-game mod manager, download the .zip file, extract it, drop the .pak file in %LocalAppData%\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Mods, and enable this mod in-game.
I'm currently working on porting this mod to the official mod.io platform so it can be enabled directly in-game, but I don't have an estimation of when it will become available. Either way, dont worry, since my mods are and will continue to be available here too!
SPECIAL THANKS
I want to give special thanks to everyone who helped with this:
- Padme4000 for her tutorials, especially her hair tutorial, as well as her references that saved me a lot of time and headaches, and the general work she's done for the BG3 modding community.
- Bububull for their template + tutorial on setting up the hairs for the CC and general hair help. Seriously, I couldn't have done it without them. You're a lifesaver. Thank you for all your work.
- Norbyte for lslib.
- ShinyHobo for their Modder's Multitool.
- AnteMaxx for their Custom Backdrop (that was incredibly useful when making the icons) and Character Creation Background.
- Astralities for their Hair Color Supplement and Skintone Expansion that were used for some of the models in the example.
- labotor for their Labo-r of Love (Modders Resource Collection) mannequins!
- BugattiXxXEchelon for patching these up for custom race mods.
- Weeviljester for his help with patching these for his Dhampir mod!
