Overall changes:
- The 2 Proficiencies have been exchanged for 1 Proficiency & Expertise in the same skill
- Each background now has a unique ability, ranging in strength
Individual changes:
Acolyte:
- Proficiency & Expertise in Religion
- Long rests grant you Sanctuary permanently until you attack; (A copy of Way of the Open Hand's Tranquility feature, this will not stack)
Charlatan:
- Proficiency & Expertise in Deception
- Can cast Disguise Self at will
Criminal:
- Proficiency & Expertise in Sleight of Hand
- Hand Crossbow & Scimitar Proficiency
Entertainer:
- Proficiency & Expertise in Performance
- Musical Instrument Proficiency
Folk Hero:
- Proficiency & Expertise in Persuasion
- Advantage on Saving Throws against being Frightened; (A copy of Halfling's Brave feature)
Guild Artisan:
- Proficiency & Expertise in History
- Chance to brew 2 potions at once if you succeed a DC 15 Medicine Check; (A copy of Transmutation School's Experimental Alchemy, this will not stack)
Haunted One:
- Proficiency & Expertise in Intimidation
- Darkvision
- Bloody Execution: When you kill an enemy or score a Critical Hit, all nearby enemies must succeed a Constitution Saving Throw or suffer Bleeding for 2 turns.
The Haunted One background is unlocked for all player characters, not just Dark Urge.
Noble:
- Proficiency & Expertise in Perception
- When you roll a 1 on an Ability Check, the die is rerolled once; You must use the new roll, even if it is also a 1; (The Ability Check component of Halfling Luck, this will not stack)
Outlander:
- Proficiency & Expertise in Survival
- 1.5 meters (5 feet) extra Movement Speed; (A copy of Wood Elf's Fleet of Foot feature, this will stack)
Sage:
- Proficiency & Expertise in Arcana
- Spell Scribing of all Scrolls costs half as much; (The 'Savant' feature from all 8 Wizard subclasses, this will not stack)
Soldier:
- Proficiency & Expertise in Athletics
- When you roll a 1 on an Attack Roll, the die is rerolled once; You must use the new roll, even if it is also a 1; (The Attack Roll component of Halfling Luck, this will not stack)
Urchin:
- Proficiency & Expertise in Stealth
- Advantage on Insight checks
