About this mod
A cheap hack that somewhat improves the stock iron sights for a few weapons by applying physical scaling to make them look less weird and more like real sights.

In Battlefield 1, though, they may have done this somewhat excessively. Many default sights have massive holes carved in them that mean the front post is basically floating alone in a void with the rear sight posts way off to the sides. This may be a matter of preference, but to me this just doesn’t look right and I find myself having poorer levels of accuracy with these sights compared to the alternative sight types provided in BF1. It’s like the uncanny valley for iron sights.
This mod improves this by simply scaling the rear sight models to be much thinner (and in some cases repositioning them to be centered after doing so), making the amount of “whitespace” in the sight smaller while hopefully not overly obstructing your view.
And yes… this mod is ultimately somewhat of a cheaper, inferior version of quadZe’s Better Sights. Rather than creating new models for the sights, this one merely uses size scaling code built into the game to re-do the proportions of some sights to look less… “video-gamey”. It does, however, have the advantage of improving the stock iron sights of a number of weapons, which Better Sights doesn’t do (yet), meaning I can recommend use of both mods at once.
This mod changes the default rear sights for the following weapons:
Benet Mercie
Chauchat
lMG08/18
Gewehr M.95
Lebel 1886
MP18
Hellriegel
Ribeyrolles
RSC 1917
Mauser M1916
Luger 1906
M1907 SL
Mondragon
General Liu (This has been removed in 1.1 because it caused compatibility problems with the "Pointless Foregrip Remover" mod.)
Everything that hasn’t been modified I either already liked or the weapon lacks a rear sight model separate from the main model for me to scale. Also, I was too lazy to record before-after shots with all of these guns so if you’d like to see how they look by default, check the Battlefield wiki.
As always, let me know if there are any bugs with the mod, any improvements you’d like me to make, or if there’s any other feedback you’ve got.
