Registration issues today (hopefully) fixed

  • Comment
Naturally when problems occur on the Nexus they don’t occur at 9.30am just as we’ve showered, eaten and gotten to our desks. They always occur at 1am just as we’ve gone to bed, leaving a good 8 hours before we know there’s anything wrong.

In true Nexus fashion we hit a rather comical problem in the early hours of this morning whereby we’d reached the maximum number of registered accounts as set by the forum software we use, Invision Board. I’d never thought to check up on whether there was a maximum because, well, why would there be? Oops. So for most of the day our registrations have been either broken, spewing out some ambiguous database error (of course, rather than saying we’d reached the maximum it simply gave a generic error), or deliberately taken offline by us so we could sort it out.

We think we’ve sorted it now. It required a lot of altering of some rather huge database tables, hence why you might have witnessed a few slowdowns or 500/504 errors today, but we should be back on track now.

If you’re one of those people who registered between the hours of 12am and 12pm today please check if the details you registered with work. If they don’t then I’m afraid the only fix will be to make a new account. If you’re one of those users who paid to become a Premium Member as you were registering during that time then please, please get in contact with me via the Contact Us link at the bottom of the site so I can sort it out for you.

If you get login_failed then I think it's username/password related. Change your password using the mechanism on the forums and then try again. It should work after that.

I have been having the same problem. I did find on the following page a reference to the problem.

      http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/news/12224/?

They have temporarily suspended the login for the NMM because it was wreaking havoc with their system. I'm not sure how exactly, but it was slowing down the entire web site.

The good news is that you can still use the NMM offline. Just manually download the mod file(s) to a location of your choosing on your computer. Then, in the NMM, use the "Add mod form file" button and direct it to get the file from your machine.

I do believe them when they say they are working hard to fix the numerous problems that have occurred over the last few days.

I signed up as a Premium member for 3 months and that was just a week or two ago and as of: Tuesday 12/03/2013 at 11:28 PM (UTC-07:00) Mountain Time (US & Canada), I'm not being recognized as a Premium member.

I just went to download a file and offered me the normal download sites. I scrolled down and found the Premium sites and clicked on one near me and it sent me to the premium signup page. Not more than an hour before, I downloaded a file just fine as a premium member.

So, either the premium membership problem is NOT fixed, or you have a new problem.

I know and appreciate that you're working hard to fix the problems. I thought I better let you know that this one isn't fixed as well as you may have thought.

    Thank you for your help.

Ok so it is the 3rd as I post this, NMM is telling me my log in details have expired? Does that mean I have to make a new account? Because that will literally break New Vegas for me.

Quite a funny little thing to happen in my eyes. I don't think many people would have really thought about a maximum for registered users, guess it's one of those things you have to experience to know for next time.

Google sites does this. If a certain amount of people come to you page a month they make you pay a bandwidth fee or something. If its consistent I know they make you upgrade.

Is this also why my download history is currently blank, I was trying to endorse some files and it told me I had not downloaded the file. I had downloaded them last night but did not install them until this morning.

And now the old history list is back, but all of the ones that I recently downloaded are missing.

Just came in to have a look for new downloads and I have discovered my download page is blank, even though I have downloaded loads of mods in the last two weeks, and now I cannot even endorse them.
