About this mod
This mods add proper native HDR tonemapping and output to Bioshock (Remastered)
- Permissions and credits
It actually doesn't change much in the rendering, games internally rendered to HDR even back then, but then tonemapped down to SDR just before output. This mod simply skips that step, allowing all the HDR detail from the scene (e.g. bright or colorful lights) to be retained, and it looks amazing!
The art direction of this game is timeless, and this mod does not spoil it in any way, if anything, it makes it shine like never before.
The performance impact is basically none.
Unfortunately Nexus mods doesn't support HDR screenshots, so the comparisons images are SDR but do a good job as showcasing the difference anyway.

Installation
- Install ReShade 6.3.3 or higher with addon support. No ReShade effects are required.
- Copy the mod files into the Bioshock installation folder, next to the game exe (nested in ".\Build\Final").
- Run the game and access the ReShade UI with <Home>, check the addons tab to see if the mod is enabled
- You can then calibrate the HDR settings there, but the mod automatically calibrates the HDR peak brightness to your display (following the Windows 11 Calibration App)
