Preset Info:
Common Features Across All Versions:
- Adaptive Sharpening
- Color Correction with true 6500k white
- Eye Adaptation: Ensures dark areas aren’t too dark, and bright areas aren’t too bright during gameplay.
- Anti-Aliasing (AA): Includes either SMAA or DLAA
Types of Anti-Aliasing:
- DLAA versions: Use these on maps that appear too sharp (particularly in areas with trees and small details).
- SMAA versions: Use these on maps that benefit from extra crispness/sharpness. (This is the main version I use.)
Quality Versions:
- Extreme: RTX + Reflections + Godrays + HBAO
- Ultra: RTX + Reflections + HBAO
- High: RTX + HBAO
- HD+: Godrays + HBAO
- HD: HBAO
- Clarity: Common features only. No HBAO or RTX features (best for low end pcs)
Effects Explained: Remember, more effects result in higher performance impact (lower FPS).
- HBAO: Adds additional shadows for depth.
- Godrays: Small rays of light emitting from light sources.
- RTX: Raytraced lighting, shadows, and colors.
- RTX + Reflections: Adds additional reflections from light sources on surrounding objects to the raytraced lighting, shadows, and colors.
Performance Impact (Lowest to Highest):
- Clarity > HD > HD+ > High > Ultra > Extreme
Small side effect:
- During loading screens you will see outlines of shadows from previous scenes. this DOES NOT impact gameplay and will go away once the game loads.
- Dark UI elements such as pause menus may appear to be slightly translucent. Again this DOES NOT impact gameplay.
Reshade Install & Setup:
➡️ Download: https://reshade.me/6.3.1 (standard) or https://reshade.me/6.3.1_Addon (addon edition)
➡️ Open the setup program
➡️ Select black ops 3

➡️ Select DX 10/11/12

➡️ Select effects to install:
> select uncheck all in the top right. (this is because we will be using my reshade-shaders folder that has required rtgi and other effects.)
> select next.
> Finish.
Install required shaders: (IMPORTANT)
> After you finished installing Reshade...
⤷ Download Fake_RTX and open the zip. There are 2 folders: reshade-shaders & bo3-reshade-presets
⤷ Go to D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty Black Ops III
⤷ Drag & drop both the reshade-shaders and bo3-reshade-preset folders from the Fake_RTX download into the bo3 folder. [REPLACE WHEN ASKED] [EXAMPLE IMAGE BELOW]
⚠️⬆️ The above step is a requirement.
⚠️➡️ Failing to install the proper shaders may lead to an unknown and unintended outcome.

In-Game Settings and Setup: (IMPORTANT)
➡️ Launch Bo3
⤷ Go to BO3 settings > Graphics, and set Display gamma to Computer (sRGB) and Brightness to '0.00' > Apply.
➡️ Turn off any blue light filters that you may use. Both software and built in monitor effects.
➡️ Next, open Reshade. (press home key)
⤷ Go to "Edit Global Processor definitions" under the home tab near the bottom. (see image below)
⤷ Set RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_REVERSED to 1 and press enter.

➡️ Click home tab again to force a loading screen. (multi color loading circle should appear)
➡️ Now open the Add-ons tab (very top of the menu) (example image below)
> Set "Aspect ratio heuristics" to "Similar aspect ratio"
> Set "Filter by depth buffer format" to "ALL"
> Select "copy depth before before clear operations"
> Select the blue string of numbers below that says reversed at the end of the string of text.
> Go back to the home tab, press home key to exit.

Applying reshade presets in-game:
- Press 'Home' at any time to open the Reshade menu.
- At the top of the program is a drop down box. Use that box to select the custom preset, then click 'select' to enable it.
⤷ You may have to navigate to the presets folder manually.
⤷ Do this by opening Reshade > clicking the drop down for the presets > then change the pathway to the bo3-reshade-presets folder. - You can also go into Reshades settings and enable a 'switch' to enable/disable the Reshade effects with the tap of a button.)
