I looked everywhere and could not find decent remasters of the Chrono Trigger FMV's online, so thought to do it myself. Sharing for anyone that wants them.

I know the files I created are very big and the remaster is not perfect. Took me like an hour to do. So, if you want to spend more time and do a much better job, here is what I did, so you can do the same.

How to install:
- Go to the game directory and overwrite the .dat files (maybe backup the old files somewhere).
How to make them yourself:
I know the files I created are very big and the remaster is not perfect. Took me like an hour to do. So, if you want to spend more time and do a much better job, here is what I did, so you can do the same.
- Thanks really should go to davidluzgouveia for creating Chrono Trigger (Steam) FMV Encoder / Decoder. I used this tool to extract the video files into MP4s.
- I then used Topaz Video AI and upscaled the videos into 4K using the Iris (low quality) model and a constant 80mbps encode. This is where you can play around. There are likely better models and tweaks one can make to get a better result, but I found this the best compared to what I have seen online.
- Once you have the remastered videos (2GB per file is the limit), you can re-encode them with the Chrono Trigger (Steam) FMV Encoder / Decoder tool.
- Overwrite the original files in the game directory, and you're done.
