Jackie Welles is a fan favorite for obvious reasons. I however, have kind of been going back and forth a bit.
The Chippin' In joke in the elevator always sat wrong with me. Why that joke? About that band? When we were going to get a relic with a copy of THAT guy on it? What did he know, that we didn't at the time?
Every life path prolougue ,he comes off as shady in some way. Gun point for the car in Streetkid, Letting Arasaka punk you at Lizzies in Corpo, and admiting to hazing you, and not paying in Nomad.
Am I crazy? Or is there more to this guy, than what is on the surface? What do you think he knew that V didn't?
Also the joke is different, apparently, based on the native language used in game. For Polish users for example, Jackie doesn't make the Samurai joke, instead the joke translates as "What do cyberpigs say, Chrome Chrome."

It was so sad when I broke the plot for the first time.
Imho, it's all good abt him, from all prologues except Corpo, we just learn to know him, so... hmm... Oh, well, as a storyteller myself I like to add 'more than meets the eye' to what I see and hear in games too. But never actually thought of Jackie as a double dealing dude, myself 🙂🙃🙂
