Unique Nails For V

A Framework by JLee Modding


This framework mod makes it easy and convenient for others to create mods that impact all of the 37 nail colors available to V (both FV and MV) without impacting the nail colors displayed by any NPCs in the game.

Whether you are looking to create new nail looks with designs on diffuse textures or you are interested in using other material types, Unique Nails For V offers an easy way to make sure your mod has as many options as possible while keeping things tidy and neatly unique to V.


For Mod Users
If you were directed to this page because a mod you want to use lists Unique Nails For V as a requirement, installing it is very easy!
  • Download Unique Nails For V - Framework Core.
  • Unzip the download and place zz_JLee_Unique_Nails_For_V_Core.archive in your Cyberpunk 2077\archive\pc\mod folder.
    - If this folder does not exist, create it.
  • Enjoy!

If you install this framework without installing an accompanying mod that depends on it, you will just see the vibrant placeholder textures for all options!


If you need to remove Unique Nails For V, uninstalling is also simple.
  • Remove zz_JLee_Unique_Nails_For_V_Core.archive from your Cyberpunk 2077\archive\pc\mod folder.


For Mod Creators
You may be wondering why you would use the Unique Nails For V framework for your nail mod. There are a few benefits:
  • All changes are confined to V - your edits will not impact NPCs, no matter how major or minor.
  • You are no longer constrained by the material types found in the mesh; you may use diffuse textures or a different material type for all 37 options available in the character customization.
  • We've already done the work of tracking down and pathing all of the meshes for you - yes, including the various cyberarm nails.
If you are interested in using the Unique Nails For V framework as a basis for your own nail color mod, that's very easy too, and you have a few options available to you:

Working with Diffuse Textures
The most straight-forward way to use Unique Nails For V is by creating diffuse textures for the nails.
  • Create your nail set textures.
         - You may wish to download the Basic Nail Texture optional file to use as a sort of template.
         - You may create up to 37 nail set textures to be installed at one time.
  • Create your mod structure and place your textures at the Unique Nails For V file path given below, named as indicated.
  • Pack your mod.
  • Be sure to name your mod so that it loads above Unique Nails For V in the load order.
  • When uploading or sharing your mod, direct users to install Unique Nails For V - A Framework as a required mod.

Diffuse textures to be used with Unique Nails For V must be placed in the base\unique_nails_framework\textures folder, and must use one of the valid file names listed here - the numbers correspond with the option in the character customization menu:

Working with Other Materials
In addition to diffuse textures, there are many other ways to provide materials to a mesh in Cyberpunk 2077. For those that are more comfortable using other material types, whether that's the multilayered material system or more unusual material types, you may choose to replace the material instance (.mi) files used in the framework with your own, thereby giving you complete freedom over what materials get applied to the nails.

The Unique Nails For V material instance files are split by hand (left vs. right), and can be found at the file paths below. Simply place your own .mi files at the specified paths in your mod structure, named appropriately, and be sure to load your mod above Unique Nails For V in the load order; your .mi files and the materials they specify will then be used.

Known Issues
FV does not have nails when you enter photomode if you have the projectile launcher cyberarms equipped - this is not the fault of Unique Nails For V! This has been checked and is absolutely an issue with the game files themselves, not a problem introduced by this framework. It is far beyond the scope of this framework to attempt to fix this issue - do not report this as a bug.

This mod should be compatible with mods that alter the shape of the nails, so long as they only alter the .morphtarget files.
This mod should be compatible with cyberarm mods, so long as they load above the framework in your load order.
