Common Bugs and Fixes
Crashes, or smeared shadows 🡒 Rename or delete %LocalAppData%\CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077\UserSettings.json
Slow/crashing screenshots use the Unwatched Dog patch 🡒 Disble overlays. This can also happen due to using non-standard DLSS scaling (ty to EtaKrysaTarakan)
Using RT+PT? Disable PT in graphics menu, and disable Ray Reconstruction. You may need to increase your gamma, or use RenoDX and a good LUT (see the main mod page for recommendations)
Rectangles on left of screen? Use DLSSTweaks and in dlsstweaks.ini and change ResolutionOffset from -1 to 0
Low FPS (even without Ultra+) with 12GB or lower VRAM, or the game slows down after playing for a while 🡒 Cp2077 is running out of VRAM. Set textures to Medium and remove 4k texture mods
FSR3 for Cyberpunk is out for NVidia users. Use the Universal version for least hassle 😊
AMD CPUs 🡒 Run AMD's Auto Detect driver tool. Even if you've installed chipset and CPU/GPU drivers, there are often newer or missing drivers, and they're important
Exclude 1) gamename.exe, 2) the game folder, and 3) shader cache folder from Windows Defender (or other) antivirus
Also exclude games from Control Flow Guard (click Start > type Exploit Protection > Click Program Settings > click Add program to customize > click Add by program name > type Cyberpunk2077.exe > Scroll down to Control flow guard (CFG) > Click Override > Switch to Off)
Enable Resizable Bar more info here and intro video here
Black appearing on trees: It's a CDPR bug where path traced shadows are not correctly calculated for trees. There is a workaround by TheCyanideXhere

Any other mods that might affect it, or does it happen in vanilla?
With PT and Ray Reconstruction on, I get these weird faint grid lines when I zoom in on the sky. It disappears completely when I turn off RR. Any ideas?
EDIT: Can confirm this happens with the latest Ray Reconstruction DLL 310.2.1 and I found that it does not happen with 310.1
Just wondering if I am missing something while modding - but whenever I use this with my 7900XT 1440p native high settings medium RT my frames go down from 55+fps to like 30fps even using in game fsr or xess doesn't get me above a constant 50 fps. Just looking for any tips would like to try this out at a nice 60fps.
Blended Screen Space Reflections in RTPT mode don't work when Ray Reconstruction is active and creates weird shadows on surfaces in reflections. Disabling the option on the rendering features tab fixes the issue, but when the game is rebooted, the change is not saved, so I have to disable it again. It would be nice if your preferences in the tab were saved after restarting the game.
Great mod. Love the customisability. It does indeed seem to improve performance a bit as well. Clearly a lot of work went into this and its appreciated. A bit more info about the difference between NR vs ray reconstruction would be good. With RT+PT, the insane quality setting seems to disable RR and enables NR instead. This results in a lot less noise in some scenarios, but I think the reason for this is that it's disabling some RT effects (with RR the lighting on a wall was blue due to a blue light and there was quite a bit of noise, but with NR the blue light was gone, as was the noise). My FPS also improved by about 15% when I re-enabled RR instead of NR, but kept RT+PT on insane. Lastly, small bug. After selecting insane rtpt and noticing rr disabled and nr enabled, i went to enable rr and this resulted in a crash. As did disabling nr. Enabling rr via the in game menu was fine, and it did not crash. If anyone else has this issue, the fix is to go to the ultra plus config, disable dlss_d (which is ray reconstruction) and enable NR.
Love the mod but resets and changes in game graphic settings, including switching upscaling from DLSS to AMD. Checking if that is normal since switching to every time is a bit tedious but not the end of the world. Thanks!
Hi sammilucia! Just bought an RTX 5070ti and I'm trying to make the most out of it. Thanks for the mod, the detailed description and the mod recommendations.
Is it normal for the game to take SO much VRAM? I thought that I was going to be fine with 16gb at 16:9 1440p, since I was always extremely limited with 8gb before, but I guess I was wrong. The game takes ~15gb of VRAM (15.8gb in Dogtown) with PT (PTNextV2 Fast), FrameGen and DLSS Balanced.
I have 6 "main" texture mods, but they are all the 2k versions of them: - HD Reworked Balanced - Environment Textures Overhaul 2k - Better Surfaces Textures - High Res Posters and Signs 2k - High-Res Tattoos 2k - Better Tree Textures (this one is 2k/4k)
I also have some LOD mods, but they are all at default settings: - NPC LOD Tweak - Not so Good Draw Distance - Improved Distant Shadows
At around 14.6-15gb the game already seems VRAM limited, since it starts stuttering like crazy and my FPS go down by half. I'm not sure why though, since it should be holding on for around 1gb more. Lowering the Texture setting to Medium seems to fix the issue, since it lowers the usage for about 1.5-2gb.
Speaking of another topic, do you know if there is a way to improve the smearing with PTNext? In the open world is mostly fine, but in some interiors absolutely everything leaves a shadow trail behind, doors opening/closing, V's animations, moving the camera, etc.
Seems about right. I would recommend looking at ETO and HD Reworked Balanced, remove one of them. IF, you want to run higher quality settings because those two mods are vram hungry. Especially ETO I believe. I don't have a 5070TI, but I run 4k versions of those mods + others and my game can hit 17+gb. Sometimes 20 when raining.
I have a 16GB 4070 TI Super and yes, Dogtown is crazy VRAM hungry, especially if you have 4K texture mods. You can use 1440p textures instead, and they'll still look good on a 4K display; you can also try decreasing the LOD distance.
Agreed, I recommend retaining HD Reworked Balanced and replacing ETO with this Praedy's 77 retexture for saving VRAMs. For ETO only has a small quantity of textures that do not overlap with those in HD Reworked or others and it's bigger.
Same here. I have a RTX 5080 and i was really surprised how much VRAM the game uses with Pathtracing and dlss perfomance. I had to completely overthink my mod setup to not hit my vram limit.
I'm on a RTX 4070 Ti Super, playing with PT on on DLSS Quality. When I try to use your tweaks the game crashes suddenly. idk what I'm doing wrong. Could someone explain which settings I should switch on?
