Common Bugs and Fixes
Crashes, or smeared shadows 🡒 Rename or delete %LocalAppData%\CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077\UserSettings.json
Slow/crashing screenshots use the Unwatched Dog patch 🡒 Disble overlays. This can also happen due to using non-standard DLSS scaling (ty to EtaKrysaTarakan)
Using RT+PT? Disable PT in graphics menu, and disable Ray Reconstruction. You may need to increase your gamma, or use RenoDX and a good LUT (see the main mod page for recommendations)
Rectangles on left of screen? Use DLSSTweaks and in dlsstweaks.ini and change ResolutionOffset from -1 to 0
Low FPS (even without Ultra+) with 12GB or lower VRAM, or the game slows down after playing for a while 🡒 Cp2077 is running out of VRAM. Set textures to Medium and remove 4k texture mods
FSR3 for Cyberpunk is out for NVidia users. Use the Universal version for least hassle 😊
AMD CPUs 🡒 Run AMD's Auto Detect driver tool. Even if you've installed chipset and CPU/GPU drivers, there are often newer or missing drivers, and they're important
Exclude 1) gamename.exe, 2) the game folder, and 3) shader cache folder from Windows Defender (or other) antivirus
Also exclude games from Control Flow Guard (click Start > type Exploit Protection > Click Program Settings > click Add program to customize > click Add by program name > type Cyberpunk2077.exe > Scroll down to Control flow guard (CFG) > Click Override > Switch to Off)
Enable Resizable Bar more info here and intro video here
Black appearing on trees: It's a CDPR bug where path traced shadows are not correctly calculated for trees. There is a workaround by TheCyanideXhere
Issues? Please let us know:
Version of cp2077 = 2.xx
Mod version = vx.x.x
GPU / vram = ___ GB
Mod type and quality?... Fast/Normal/High/Insane ... RT / RT+PT / PT20 / PT21 / Non-RT
Any other mods that might affect it, or does it happen in vanilla?
Ghost trail effect using PTNext + High Preset when stationary. I am also using Ray Reconstruction which I know is a culprit to this, however using PTNext exaggerates this effect 10x more. I have even tried updating nvngx dlls, as well as NVIDIA streamline files with no success. One way I was able to mitigate this effect slightly was by using DLSS tweaks to increase the DLSS Quality mode from 66% of native to 75%, however this tanks frames and only mitigates it by a slight margin. Shame because the differences in lighting from vanilla and ultra plus are night and day.
You could try using nvidia profile inspector revamped to force the RR preset to E (Truthfull_Shrimp) as, altough it's got some issues, I find the "shadow smearing" to be way less noticeable than the K preset. I say use NPIR because, currently, the NVidia App may override it (so uninstall the app) and doesn't work well. Not sure about the legacy NPI but might as well use the Revamped option. Also, latest drivers can't force Use 3D Application option for Frame gen 3x or 4x on 50series, so if you're into that apply it manually through the NPIR just to make sure.
have a lot of issues with this mod. I recently reinstalled it, and I lost performance over vanilla, and I'm using RTPT fast. Any fix for this? I tried different versions and reinstalled like 10 times
This might be a lame comment but should I use this on an rx 6600 r7 7700x now hear me out im 1440p with a lot of heavy mods on and I have dlss replacer and fsr frame gen thingy should I use this?
I've tested it with FSR 4 via optiscaler. The RT + PT mode works fine. The PT only mode introduces a bunch of noise. I guess this is because amd doesn't have a good denoiser for PT yet.
FSR 4 has its own denoiser. Vanilla PT without Ultra Plus noise is manageable. You'll see some waviness/haziness from edges, only because the denoiser is doing its job.
With Ultra Plus PT however, the noise are pretty much white and opaque noises. Somehow the denoiser does not work at all when using Ultra Plus.
My suggestions as a fellow 9070 XT user: 1. Always use OptiScaler to force FSR 4. It is totally worth it no matter what your settings are. 2. If you want RT, use Ultra Plus. RT or RT+PT settings are good. No noise. Extremely fast. 3. If you want PT, do not use Ultra Plus. Revert your UserSettings.json and uninstall Ultra Plus.
By the way, anyone else here on a 9070 XT that has constant driver crashes when playing the game with Path Tracing enabled? It's a known issue according to AMD. A lot of people on Reddit are reporting the same issue since driver 25.3.1.
Update:
New suggestions for 9070 XT users:
If you want PT, use Advanced Path Tracing mod. Revert and uninstall Ultra Plus first. Then in game, choose APT preset "Psycho" and change mode to "ReSTIR DI/GI".
As usual, use FSR 4 via OptiScaler. Anywhere from Quality to Performance is fine depending on your resolution.
Bonus: It seems that APT has somehow solved the driver crashing issue that happens when using PT in this game. I will drive and run around the map more before I can confirm if it's truly stable.
I'm not sure if you having this issue but for me with this ultra plus mod indoors I get this weird white moving artifacts in dark areas that are very distracting and only go away when removing the mod any way to fix this? Ive tried removing the mods that may mix with this mod but still it shows with this mod installed. Could it be optiscaler messing with it?
4K Path Tracing on PTnextv2 @ a steady 100fps+ even in the most stressful areas of the game. This is one of those mods that really makes me go " oh right this is why I bought a 4090 ".
Seriously I don't think I've ever commented on this site before, but I wanted to write to let you know that you've made this game so beautiful and so playable at such a high level that this is for sure the coolest mod that I've ever downloaded and I'm so grateful. Mod developers put in so much work behind the scenes and I just want to let you know that it doesn't go unnoticed, even if I don't know what the heck you did here with this black magic!
Now I just need to find the perfect HDR LUT and I think I'm done worrying about visual tweaking with this game!
Mod is great but i think vanilla does a better job denoising than this mod at the cost of performance. If you dont care about PT noise, sure this mod is great but for me, vanilla is better.
It seems no matter what .ini file I edit, this mod consistently reverts Global Illumination Range to "Medium" on game load, forcing me to set it back to psycho every time. Is there any way around this?
Also, is the consensus to enable GlobalLight or not these days?
The "ray reconstruction denoiser" is the most useless and frustrating thing ever made. It doesn't denoise anything. It just crashes the game and keeps crashing it until you navigate through dozens of folders looking for the right config file and try to guess which setting turns it off so that the game will stop crashing because of course it's labelled differently in the config file purely for your inconvenience.
Is there a way to fix the Distand Fog option to not cause extremely noticable edges when moving? It seems to only render so and so much of the screen and then I always have a very harsh edge traveling across the screen which is very distracting.

I'm suffering from this right now
Edit:
I found it, for anyone in the future with the same issue:
Navigate to
\Cyberpunk 2077\bin\x64\plugins\cyber_engine_tweaks\mods\UltraPlus
Look for UserSettings.ini, open it with a text editor, and look for:
DLSS_D = true
Change it to:
DLSS_D = false
And save the file
