Netrunning tweaks for the the hardcore22v2 mod

This mod balances netrunner perks, cyberware and quickhack damage for use with the HARDCORE22V2 mod's very small 100HP health pool, making netrunner/overclock builds actually usable, relatively fair and in line with the hardcore mod's power level experience.

Your low level wifi reddit magic is deserving of your average kabuki shopkeep's ridicule: Your first cyberdeck is cringe and literally any gun off the ground will work better. Non-combat quickhacks will have much more utility- particularly early in the game- and cheap combos (ie. contagion+overheat) won't one-shot enemies without some investment. However once you fill out a build, you'll be able to maintain an overclock loop and nuke enemies from orbit (albeit with careful management and high risk)


What the mod does


Balances skills and cyberware to make overclock useable:

  • Reduce Overclock skill's health cost to 3 health per RAM unit used (vanilla 10)
  • Blood Daemon perk restores 5 health (vanilla 25)
  • Power Surge perk restores health equal to max RAM (vanilla 5*RAM)
  • RAM Recoup Cyberware recovers ram equal to 0.3 to 1.5% of damage received (vanilla 0.2 to 0.3%)

Adjusts quickhack damage:


Cheap combat quickhacks, combos and their related explosions heavily nerfed. This might not be to everyone's liking, but it plays really well with creative build synergies and makes them feel much more rewarding.

Electrical damage stacking potential is still relatively high, to cover for the weakness of bullets against the hardcore mod's scary mechs. Ultimate quickhacks are untouched.

(optional file): Increases boss health:

Oda, Sasquatch and Kurt have had their health increased to make the boss fights last longer than 10 seconds. (Smasher is already buffed in the Hardcore22v2 tweak).




Additional mods i recommend/ work well with this one:
Guns Redone V3.0(hardcore22 compatibility version), Better NetrunningTrace Position Overhaul, and Random Netrunners. These nicely round out the higher difficulty netrunning experience. To make life even harder for yourself, RAM based scanner time dilation and Scanner RAM Drain add some nice constraints to the overpowered scanner time dilation.

I haven't tested it thoroughly, but this mod (along with base HC22) is working great with the current ENC beta (as of 17/04/25), which is mostly limited to AI changes. This will change if the author reintroduces damage scaling and hacking resistances.



Compatibility:

This conflicts with Overclock Overheat.

If you/your other mods are already adjusting quickhack scaling, you can still use the optional file which fixes overclock.

Uninstalation:
delete r6/tweaks/BetterNetrunning.yaml. Remember to delete this mod if you stop using the base hardcore mod! this mod's file is right next to it alphabetically.
