About this mod

There is a bug in the game which causes the firing rate of auto and burst weapons to slow down as your total play time (since beginning the character) increases. This bug affects all playthroughs and (auto) weapons. This mod mostly fixes it, as much as is possible.

Because of how the game represents the "engine time" in the game scripts, as that number grows (the more you play), the calculations of when to allow the next bullet to be fired become less and less accurate (in the slower direction). This video shows the effect and fix on a ~100 hour save:

This bug has existed since at least patch 2.0. It affects even early saves, but becomes worse the longer you play.

This mod changes the code to use a more accurate measure of time and reduce the numerical error.

Remaining Bugs:

Even with this fix longer saves can still experience slightly slower firing rate, just with much less difference than before. The problem is worse on higher firing rate weapons, such as Problem Solver. I tested on a 550 hour save which still shows a 22% longer time to empty Problem Solver's 90 rounds with this fix compared to on a 16 hour save. In vanilla it takes about twice as long on the 550 hour save, so this is still a big improvement.

Typical playtimes should not have noticeable slowdown for most weapons now.
