About this mod
My attempt to make the Mizutani Shion more betterer. New wheels, better handling, unique player Shions and wide body kit for the Shion MZ2. Optional packages to make the player Shions match their Autofixer background stories.

I find it pretty interesting that some cars in the game seem to be very heavily based on real world cars. For the Thorton Galena I'd say Volkswagen Golf Mk.1, Quadra Turbo resembles the Ferrari Testarossa and the Quadra Type 66 is clearly based on the Ford Mustang. So where does that leave the Mizutani Shion? I'm thinking 70s gran turismo. Bit of a resemblance with the early Toyota Celica Liftback there, but there are countless GTs from that time with the same general proportions. Not sure.
I am sure however that the default Shion is a disgrace. And I don't mean any disrespect to Paweł Breshke-Czyżewski. I think he did a very good job and I think the MZT looks all right. The MZ1 and MZ2 look terrible for the wheels alone. And the handling ... if they were going for 1980s sedan that never got new shocks then they got that right.
What This Is
HANDLING
I started out with doing something about the handling. I didn't see much room to salvage that, so I changed it to use the drive model of the Porsche 911 and then edited it to be sensible for the Shion. It's way more fun to drive IMHO and you can still throw it around corners like the Porsche 911. This affects every Shion, i.e. MZ1, MZ2 and MZT.
IMPORTANT! I'm using Gripped Up (Vanilla Plus) and Dynamic Downforce (Version 2.12), so all the handling changes are dialed in with those two installed.
UNIQUENESS
The player Shions all drive around as NPC/crowd cars. I didn't like that, so I wrote a little CET script to stop that for the MZ1 and MZ2.
MZ2 WIDE BODY KIT
I ripped the wide body kit off the Targa and put it on the MZ2 along with the front and rear bumpers. BTW if that sounds really easy to you, let me tell you it really wasn't.

WHEELS
Since I didn't find anything already in the game that I liked I made custom wheels for both the MZ1 and MZ2. The MZ2 wheels have the same dimensions as the Targa wheels. The MZ1 wheels have the dimensions the MZ2 wheels had before.

BUGFIX
True fact, the Shion Targa has a

"I'm giving you options, honey."
MZ1 STREET RACER
Did you read the origin story of this car in the Autofixer shop page? Well, I did and it belonged to a street racer and apparently a successful one. I gave it a custom paint job, wider front wheels, lowered suspension and a tuned engine setup. It has more grip and better acceleration than the default MZ2, but the same top speed. Actually it may run into the rev limiter, especially when going downhill. I left it like that on purpose, because I figure the former owner valued acceleration over top speed.

MZ2 QUADRA HUNTER
I spun the origin story a little farther with this one. I figure when the former owner blew up the engine and had to have it rebuilt, she let the shop tune it as well. I mean it was already apart, right? It has a little more grip as well. Now this monster can actually compete with a Quadra Type 66 Avenger.

TARGA WHEELS
This removes that fairing or whatever it is in the Targa wheels that block the view on the brakes. And the mesh that was behind that for some reason.

Known Issues
No recolors of the low poly proxy meshes. I had to draw the line somewhere.
Especially the MZ2 front and rear bumpers may have some color issues from a distance, i.e. different colors than up close. I noticed that pretty late and really didn't feel like ripping it open. Again.
I did a lot of mesh editing, but there are still one or two spots where the sunlight goes right through the body and puts light spots on the tires. These are lighting/shadow issues, mind you. It's not like there are visible gaps in the body or anything!
Compatibility
The changes to the MZ2 are the most extensive, so it's the least compatible with anything. Recolors will have a visible effect, but they won't affect the wide body kit or the front and rear bumpers. It can be recolored, but it would have to be tailored to this mod. That BBS wheel mod for example may actually do something, but it will just look incredibly wrong, because the wheels will have the wrong size and be in the wrong position.
The MZ1 and MZT should be fully compatible with recolors. Wheel changes probably won't work well on the MZ1.
If you use AMM to spawn the Shion MZ2 (dunno if it was updated to be able to spawn the others as well) the CET script will step in to change its appearance, because it's not a player vehicle. You can simply select the appearance you want in the scan tab, though, including the player appearance.
Installation
Just drop the contents of the zip file into your game's root folder like a caveperson or use a mod manager of your choice.
