You know of all the three (3) bikes in the game the Yaiba Kusanagi is - in my humble opinion - the most futuristic and fitting for a futuristic setting. The name Kusanagi is probably a nod to Ghost in the Shell, but it feels more like it picks up the aesthetic of Kaneda's iconic bike in Akira. The CT-3X with the fairings and stuff anyway. Nice job, well done etc.
Aaaand then there's the naked bike version of the Kusanagi which is like whaaaat. Ahem. First and most eye-sore-ish (this is totally a word!) we have this tall seat back rest thing. Yes, I know about Bōsōzoku thankyouverymuch, but the aesthetic associated with that is part of a cultural and historical context and just picking out single style elements and bolting them onto something completely different is just ... blergh (yes, also a word).
Off with their
Finally why don't the naked bikes have instruments? I mean you might make a case that they don't need visual instruments, because the bike sends its data right to your brain implants. To which I say baloney! Baloney! Sorry, but it's really not a very good case you're making here. Animals are driving these bikes and Animals do not get implants like that. Anyway, I stole the speedometer off the Brennan Apollo and put it on all Kusanagi versions except the CT-3X. After making room for it.
What This Is
MAIN PACKAGE
All the mesh and stuff changes. What do you expect here? If you want a longer version, read the incoherent rambling. The short version is in the brief overview. If you want the visual version look at the screenshots. Everything I changed should be shown.
TUNING PACKAGE
Little bit of tuning for all Kusanagi versions to get a little more torque, more grip and allow for more tilt in corners. Also shifted the weight a bit, so the bike doesn't lift its rear wheel under hard braking while still allowing the iconic Kaneda's bike drift stop. This is still not a nimble bike and it's not supposed to. Also if you brake into corners, expect the rear wheel to lose traction.
IMPORTANT! I'm using Gripped Up (Vanilla Plus) and Dynamic Downforce (Version 2.12), so all the handling changes are dialed in with those two installed.
Known Issues
Even after about a bazillion iterations I couldn't make the speedometer housing match the existing instruments. Honestly, vehicle colors are evil.
I only made the cockpit changes that make room for the speedometer on the high detail mesh, but not the lower-detail ones. Since you have to be riding the bike anyway to see the speedometer in action and because I didn't feel like it, ok?
Compatibility
This will be incompatible with anything that makes mesh changes to the "naked" versions of the Kusanagi. Recolors will stil work, though. The CT-3X remains untouched and can still be modded.
Installation
Just drop the contents of the zip file into your game's root folder like a caveperson or use a mod manager of your choice.
