About this mod
Night City Streets is a configurable INI overhaul designed to make Cyberpunk 2077's crowds and traffic feel more alive, dense, and realistic.
To cater to different players and systems, Night City Streets offers multiple presets: ranging from "Maximum Immersion" (heavy performance hit) and "Balanced Realism" to "Performance First," "Pedestrian
- Permissions and credits
- Maximum Immersion ("Corpo Plaza Crush"): Pushes density and AI reactivity to the absolute limit. Includes performance-heavy visual options (DisableLOD, ForceFullTest) for maximum model/object consistency. For high-end rigs craving ultimate chaotic immersion. Expect a major performance hit!
- Balanced Realism ("Street Samurai Standard"): The core experience. Enhanced density and behavior without completely tanking performance. Visual tweaks disabled by default for better framerates. A great starting point for most users with decent PCs.
- Pedestrian Focus ("Night Market Mingle"): Makes sidewalks and markets teem with life. Prioritizes close-quarters pedestrian density and interaction over heavy traffic.
- Performance First ("Wannabe Merc"): For chooms on lower-spec rigs or those prioritizing buttery smooth FPS. Keeps subtle behavioral tweaks with minimal density increase and performance settings close to vanilla.
- Traffic Nightmare ("Corpo Convoy Chaos"): Turns the roads into a chrome jungle. Focuses on dense, aggressive vehicle traffic for those who love navigating gridlock.
- Visual Fidelity Focus ("Braindance Capture"): Prioritizes visual consistency by reducing distracting vehicle model swapping (DisableLOD) and potential object pop-in from culling (ForceFullTest). Density is moderate to save resources for these demanding visual settings. Ideal for screenshot artists who dislike visual inconsistencies.
- Lore-Infused Behavior: A special preset tuning NPC proximity, reactions, persistence, and traffic aggression to closely match the feel described in Cyberpunk lore (overcrowded, desensitized yet reactive, dangerous traffic). Includes demanding visual options by default.
- Each preset modifies core engine parameters differently – adjusting spawn limits, AI reaction times, pathing behaviors, specific visual settings, and more.
- Pick the .ini file for the preset that best matches your desired experience and hardware capabilities.
- Use it as your new baseline for Night City's population.
- Understand exactly what each setting does (including the newly integrated ones!).
- Fine-tune your chosen preset even further.
- Build your own unique Night City configuration from the ground up.
- (Note: We strongly advise
- PERFORMANCE VARIES WILDLY: Presets like "Maximum Immersion" or those enabling DisableLOD/ForceFullTest are VERY DEMANDING, especially on the CPU. "Performance First" is much lighter. Choose wisely and benchmark your chosen preset! Adjust SpawnLimit within your chosen preset's INI if needed – it's the biggest performance knob.
- Cyber Engine Tweaks (CET) IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: Especially for denser/visually demanding presets. CET helps stabilize the engine under heavy load. Mod smarter, not harder.
- VISUAL TWEAKS EXPLAINED:
- [Traffic] DisableLOD = true: Prevents traffic vehicles from switching to low-detail models at distance. Improves consistency but costs performance. Optional in some presets.
- [Occlusion] ForceFullTest = true: Forces more thorough checks for hidden objects. Can reduce objects popping into view when occlusion fails, but costs CPU performance. Optional in some presets.
- [Streaming] DistanceBoost is NOT USED as it caused graphical glitches. This mod does not increase general draw distance.
- EXPECT QUIRKS: Pushing engine parameters can lead to occasional unexpected behavior or visual glitches (like clipping), especially with high-density or minimum-proximity settings.
- MOD CONFLICTS: If another mod heavily alters crowd/traffic INIs, you'll need to merge changes carefully or choose which mod takes priority over your chosen Night City Streets preset.
- BACKUP YOUR ORIGINAL INI FILE(S)! Can't say it enough.
- Download the Night City Streets archive and choose ONE preset .ini file that fits your goal.
- Place your chosen preset .ini file into the correct configuration directory (e.g., \Cyberpunk 2077\engine\config\platform\pc\ or mod-specific folders like those used by Cyber Engine Tweaks).
- (Optional but Recommended) Download the Annotated Master INI file for reference or future deep customization.
- Ensure Cyber Engine Tweaks is installed and running (Recommended).
- Launch, experience your chosen flavor of Night City, and tweak further using the annotated guide if desired!
