2018 - Saw a rise of vtubers. They are virtual anime idols and their activities varied from conducting concerts, game streaming, karaoke streams, product endorsements, and so on. They were dominating the First Net. The DataKrash by Rache Bartmoss saw an end to all of that.
2076 - Cover Corp. The Japanese conglomerate, and one of the corporations that kicked off the vtubing industry back in 2018, partnered with Arasaka in order to revive the industry and penetrate the Night City market. The deal is mainly for Cover to be able to provide its talents' services for product endorsements and other opportunities. Arasaka have equipped the (now aging) vtubers' original voice actresses with top-of-the-line cybernetic throat implants so that their voices would sound just like it did during the peak of their careers before the fall of the First Net. Their lineup of talents now includes the legendary Kizuna Ai and the formerly independent Tenjin Kotone.
Arasaka's PR department is hoping that the appeal of anime will boost the zaibatsu's reputation to the general public.
2077 - Cover and Arasaka have announced that they're working on a braindance that incorporates the use of anime characters where the user can experience a life with his or her favorite waifus or husbandos. It is still in very early development.
Cover COO A-chan announced that there is a directive from current CEO, Tokino Sora, saying that they're not going to accept any lewd product endorsements. The board tried to overrule this by coming up with their own resolution but soon changed their minds after a meeting with the CEO herself. The minutes of the meeting were not recorded.
Former CEO Motoaki "Yagoo" Tanigo's whereabouts are still unknown.
*Aki Rosenthal is now the main endorser of Chromanticore and she also have an endorsement deal with Nicola. She has also decided to move in Night City. When asked whether she is worried about moving into a famously dangerous city, she only giggled and responded with an “ara ara”.
*Despite being the current CEO of Cover, Tokino Sora still accepts endorsement deals as long as they're not yabai. She is now the product endorser of Tiancha. She has later clarified to her fans that this Tiancha is not "Tokino Soda", because it is a kind of tea.
*Tenjin Kotone has bagged an endorsement deal with Naranjita. She says that she will work very hard and is willing to accept any product endorsement, forgetting for a moment that she is not an independent talent anymore. Once she regrouped herself, she said that she is willing to accept any non-yabai product endorsement and song recording opportunities.
*The underwater themed club in Japan Town, Below Deck, have signed an endorsement deal with Kizunai and has since then put up a gigantic electronic billboard of the legendary vtuber, making her image illuminate the Watson area across Westbrook.
*Gawr Gura is modeling for Arasaka's advanced soldier systems.
*Pekora, a rabbit samurai has been developed by Arasaka's Combat Systems department for home security. This very cute model is perfect for making the inhabitants of the house, especially the kids, comfortable. But its protection/combat mode turns it into a deadly fighting machine that shows no mercy to threats.
*Arasaka acquired the rights for Arknight's Texas for their products and services endorsement.
*An endorsement deal that has baffled many market watchers. Hakos Baelz now has an endorsement deal with Arasaka's rival company, Kang Tao. Rumor has it that Kang Tao paid tremendous amounts of money and traded schematics for some of their smart weapons to Arasaka in order to sign the deal with Baelz in a much-needed public relations effort after the Hangzhou refinery incident.
*Hakos Baelz is also modeling for the luxury clothing brand, Jinguji. Like Aki Rosenthal, Baelz have decided to live in Night City and when asked by the same interviewer if she’s not worried about her safety; clutching her smart pistol given to her by Kang Tao, she confidently responded by saying that she’s only afraid of spiders.
*After the Fourth Corporate War, Asia was ravaged by war and unrest, and tensions between rival idol companies Hololive (under Cover Corp.) and Nijisanji came to a point of no return with Hololive barely coming out on top. One of Nijisanji's talents, Higuchi Kaede, eventually founded her own company, a clothing line called Jinguji, which became very popular in Asia and then later on in the rest of the world, especially to those who have money and the desire to flaunt it.
*Jinguji has endorsement deals with several top models in the world, and even acquired the rights to legendary anime characters, such as Rei Ayanami, Daki, Kamado Nezuko, Agatsuma Zenitsu, Hashibira Inosuke, and Kamado Monjiro.
*Lizzies has recently acquired the rights to use the legendary anime twerk queen, Mary Steinberg, for advertising their braindance services.
*Members of the Church of Roxy Migurdia have recently protested outside of Caliente's office, alleging that the tacos brand illegally used the goddess Roxy's screenshot from the legendary anime, Mushoku Tensei, for their product's advertisements. Caliente has since then denied the allegation, claiming that they got permission from the church's founding father and prophet- Rudeus Greyrat himself, further fanning the flames of the church members' ire.
