About this mod

Changes the enemy scaling for the entire game to match a Soul Level 223 character with these stats: Vit, Attun, Stren, Dex, Intel, Faith all 28, Endur 40, Luck 15. The idea is leveling up both your character and your weapons is pointless as the game has been balanced around this 100% save game. World Exploration is only for your Curiosity.

Version 1.5. The description has changed.

IF YOU'RE A BEGINNER DARK SOULS PLAYER, I RECOMMEND SKIPPING THE EXPLANATION AND GOING STRAIGHT TOWARDS INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. THE TL;DR IS I WANTED QUALITY OF LIFE AND BALANCING CHANGES TO THE GAME REPLAYING IT AFTER I LOST MY SAVE FILE TO ALLOW ME TO HAVE MORE FUN. I DO NOT ENJOY GRINDING FOR WEAPONS AND SPELLS ONLY TO USE A SMALL FRACTION OF THEM BY THE END OF MY PLAY THROUGH BECAUSE ALL MY RESOURCES WENT INTO MAKING A BUILD FOR ONE TYPE OF WEAPON/SPELL. EVERY WEAPON AND SPELL IS VIABLE FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE GAME.

Gameplay Changes:
Difficulty Scaling:
  • New Game Plus has been made obsolete. There is no difference in enemy damage or health when the game is reset.
  • All enemies have been re-scaled to match damage from weapons that have NEVER been upgraded. The game is still difficult, you just don't have to and SHOULDN'T level up your weapon, estus flask, bonfire, player level, etc. Any leveling will instantly make your character overpowered for every enemy in the game.
  • As an extra precaution, all enemies in the game give no souls. The only way to gain souls (which you shouldn't be trying to do because it will make your character un-balanced) is through items.
  • I have decreased the weight and required stats of some weapons and armor to make everything viable to use (I define viable as you can wear the heaviest armor in the game and the heaviest hammer without fat rolling). Every item is equipable from the beginning.
  • Generally, enemies that are not bosses have been made easier. The DLC areas are harder to navigate than the base game areas on purpose. Early game bosses are harder and I tried my best to make the late game bosses hard but fair. They're pretty difficult even for me, but the difficulty rises on a gradual slope so don't worry. I was very methodical when re-balancing the game's progression.
  • It is hard to say what is harder and what is easier because everything in dark souls depends on your stats which are constantly changing in vanilla gameplay, so take what I just said with a grain of salt. The only way to see how hard it is is to try it out.
  • I have removed all weapon scaling. There is no point in having scaling since it is completely dependent on leveling up. If I kept the scaling of weapons, the balancing for weapons would be a lot worse because some weapons scale better than others with a character that has no specialization in one skill.
  • Infusion is allowed, although many gems are now useless because their purpose was to change the scaling of weapons. The only gems in the save game inventory are those which do something other than change the scaling of a weapon. See DS3 Infusion Gems. Infusion requires Coal. As of 1.5 I have inserted the Coals into a treasure location at the beginning of the game, the corpse in front of the grave right after Iudex Gundyr. I have also inserted the Grave Key, Tower Key, and Lift Chamber Key. (Grave Key and Tower Key require souls which is a problem since I have disabled souls from enemies, and Lift Chamber Key is problematic because it requires a pale tongue. Pale tongues allow for re-allocation of your stats which I am not trying to encourage for reasons.) See pictures above for locations. Please let me know if other Key Items are unattainable with the changes I have made.
  • Since 1.4, reinforcement is impossible, infusion requires no souls for every weapon.
  • All NPC's are now guaranteed beatable, I figured out how to change every enemy NPC's health and damage all at once.

Now onto the magic!

  • I fixed the damage for every spell to match the changes I made to enemy health. Turns out every spell in the game is very powerful against the enemies with hp from the start of the game (WHO KNEW!)... yeah it was a pain in the ass.
  • I re-balanced every spell in the game to be useful if it wasn't (except for Sacred Flame and Acid Surge... you don't want to use them anyway, trust me). This was done with a variety of methods, including changing animations, changing damage or FP cost, changing the homing of projectiles, changing the hit-box size, for the spell warmth preventing enemy restoration, making spells phase through the stage, and in the case of buffing spells, changing the buff amount or duration.
  • Spells that have a bunch of duplicate variations (Soul Arrow, Farron Dart, Homing Soulmass, Soul Spear, Magic Weapon, Magic Shield, Deep Soul, Fireball, Firestorm, Poison Mist, Heal Aid, Replenishment, Lightning Spear, Magic Barrier, and Gnaw) you can only use the best versions of those. What's the point of using the same thing but less damage and less FP consumption? Don't worry, I changed the slow animations for some of those powerful spells, for example I took the Soul Arrow animation and added it to Great Heavy Soul Arrow, the only Soul Arrow you can use.
  • I also made every spell require only 1 attunement slot, so you can hold any 4 spells at once. I tried to keep spells similar in damage and speed when compared to the normal weapons. There are still spells that are better than others, certain spells are just not as blatantly powerful or blatantly useless as before. I didn't do anything that From Software hasn't already done themselves when balancing the game, all I did was tweak spell attributes. Just think of it as From Software decided to re-balance the magic and spent a whole day to get it right. I hope you find my changes tasteful :3.
  • One more thing about magic, I've added a trickle of FP restoration because I wanted to. If you're wondering how much, it's 1.4% of your FP bar every 1.25 seconds, which comes out to every 90 seconds, the trickle will have restored your entire bar. With this change I also made the FP consumption of weapons 2x more because weapons consumed too little FP.

Boss Changes:

  • High Lord Wolnir's Shackles have 3 times more health.
  • Yorm the Giant is now a normal boss instead of a gimmick boss, I decreased his health from 10,000 to 3000. I have changed his absorption levels (weakness and resistance). He is now weak to poison/toxic, frost, bleed, and magic damage. Every other type of damage he resists. Remember, he takes the most damage on his head.
  • Iudex Gundyr, Vordt, Curse-Rotted Greatwood, and Crystal Sage all had their damage buffed. Demon Prince had it's damage nerfed.
  • Iudex Gundyr, Vordt, Crystal Sage, Abyss Watchers, Dancer, Oceiros, Champion Gundyr, Aldrich, Dragonslayer Armor, Lothric, and Nameless King all have more HP because they were easier than I expected them to be when I fought them.

Save game changes:
  • All weapons, spells, and armors are available to the player from the beginning either in bonfire storage or in the player's inventory.
  • You hold 12 Estus/Ashen Flasks upgraded 8 times via estus shards and the bonfire is level 5 via 4 undead bone shards. The remaining 3 estus shards and 6 undead bone shards lie in bonfire storage. DO NOT USE THEM, IT IS INTENTIONAL THAT YOU HAVE 12 FLASKS AND A LEVEL 5 BONFIRE.
  • I have intentionally picked certain weapons to be in your inventory and not in storage. The weapons are (supposedly) some of the best in the game according to this PVP tier list. Yes, I know PVP and PVE is different but this is the best I could do, there's so many weapons and I wanted to make it easier to choose which to use.

Potential Issues:

  • Since you have almost every item in the game, the only time it is worth picking up items is when it is a key item because in New Game Plus, all key items are removed from your inventory. If you pick up an item blind, you will probably be picking up something you already have and might end up with duplicate items that you can sell to get rid of. I'm thinking of removing all dropped and found items from the overworld, but it is probably too much work for not much payoff.

Huge thank you to the ?ServerName? From Software modding Discord server, everyone was very helpful, kind, and patient when I was confused and needed help.

Some tips for new players:

  • Here are the game's controls.
  • Wear rings.
  • Wearing armor is VERY important. It doesn't matter what armor, as long as you have something on your defense will drastically increase. The stats for armor don't matter very much, you can ignore it and just choose what looks cool.
  • You can change the ratio of Estus to Ashen flasks in your inventory by going to Blacksmith Andre in Firelink Shrine and choosing "Allot Estus". Ashen flasks are used to restore your FP, which is used in both weapons and magic, but weapons do not require FP to be used while magic does.
  • There are multiple items and magic that will buff your weapon damage with elemental damage. Magic itself usually does elemental damage. It is not expected of you to use it to beat the game, I'm just telling you it's an option. The benefit to elemental damage is enemies (including bosses) are weak to certain elements and resistant to others. This is called an enemy's "absorption". Check the wiki.
  • If you keep getting a bleed meter on your screen that grows with no end, try pulling out a torch.
  • There are multiple ways to avoid poison.
  • To use magic, you'll first need to equip a spell tool. Certain spell tools can only cast certain types of magic. Check their item descriptions. Once you have that equipped, you'll need to attune a spell at any bonfire.

Installation (Verified to be working on version 1.15.2):
  • This mod requires Ashes of Ariandel and The Ringed City DLC packages. Make sure you have them installed.
  • If you haven't already, launch Dark Souls 3 and go into the settings. Under network -> Launch Setting, set it to Play Offline to avoid a ban. Quickly create a new character if you don't have one (it will be overwritten so don't put your heart and soul into it), watch the opening cutscene. Save and quit, close Dark Souls 3.
  • Download the mod zip file.
  • Download UXM zip file.
  • Extract both zip files and launch UXM.exe.
  • Click Browse and find your DarkSoulsIII.exe file in your "Game" folder. Should be in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\DARK SOULS III\Game\ for Steam.
  • Click Unpack and wait for it to be finished.
  • Move the "event" folder, "Vanilla Files" folder, and Data0.bat to your "Game" folder. Replace files when prompted. If you want to revert your changes, either uninstall Dark Souls 3 and reinstall or overwrite in your "Game" folder using the files within the "Vanilla Files" folder.
  • Go back to UXM and this time click Patch. Wait for it to be finished and close UXM.
  • NOTE IF YOU UPDATE THE GAME: The purpose of using UXM is to insert the event file that changes the Wolnir fight to be more difficult by making his shackles 3x harder to break. For some reason they made that way harder to change than everything else. Everything else is not contained in the exe but rather Data0.bdt. If you update to a new version of Dark Souls III (because Steam does this without your permission), that event file will be back to vanilla. So, repeat step 5 - 9 if you updated and the Wolnir fight will be back to 3x harder.
  • Download and extract the save manager utility.
  • Launch the game, don't press anything and don't log in.
  • Launch the utility and select "patch" and "allow integration". Close Dark Souls III and the utility.
  • Go to your save folder located in C:\Users\<userid>\AppData\Roaming\DarkSoulsIII\. It should be named something weird like 0110000105965eaf. WARNING: BACKUP YOUR SAVE DATA TO AN ALTERNATIVE LOCATION BEFORE OVERWRITING THE SAVE FILE IN THIS NEXT STEP IF YOU HAVE SAVE DATA YOU WANT TO PRESERVE. DO NOT TRUST STEAM TO BACKUP YOUR SAVE. Copy the save file named DS30000.sl2 from the mod "Save Game" folder into your save game folder and overwrite your save file. If you are a veteran and want to do something before NG+ (like skip straight to fighting bosses or testing the enemy scaling), choose "Save Game Before NG+".
  • That's it! Thank you for deciding to try out my mod! Please leave a forum post if you have any questions, comments, or criticisms.
