About this mod

Massively overhauls DS3's graphics by altering the game's gparam config files, making map/lighting edits in Smithbox, and manually altering the textures. You can expect better SSAO, dynamic shadows, natural colors restored, huge increase in clarity and detail, hero lighting removed, fixes DS3's metallic look, and much more!

Permissions and credits
Features of this mod:
Modified reflectance maps to fix overly metallic look
Ported better SSAO from Armored Core 6
Improved pointlights by modifying their falloff
dynamic shadows added
hero lighting removed from player and enemies
local lights removed in the environment
disables in game AA, TAA done through reshade (preset in downloads)
exposure tweaks by using the auto exposure system
remove vignette
disable colorgrading (more colorful)
adjusting lightmap usage of normalmaps
removes LOD pop-in and texture pop-in

Future plans:
-I will upscale all textures in the game and save them as BC7 texture compression, which is the industry standard but went partially unused by DS3. Should result in better upscales, but it's laborious to do.
-Adding parallax occlusion mapping to more surfaces

What about DS3LightingEngine?
This mod's changes should only be enhanced by DS3LightingEngine when it does come out on nexus.

Installation:
install ModEngine2
inside your ModEngine2 folder, you'll find a "mod" folder
That's where you drop my "map" and "param" folder from this mod
You'll launch the game using launchmod_darksouls3.bat
I tend to have my ModEngine2 folder and the "mod" folder inside my DS3 game folder, but that's optional

Last step is installing Reshade so we can use TAA (since the ingame awful FXAA is disabled):
download it here
run the installer and when it asks you for a preset ini file, simply select the DS3_TAA.ini from this mod
hit next. it will now download the required shaders, which is actually only 2. One is CAS (contrast adaptive sharpening) and the other is Vort_motion which handles the motion vectors and TAA.

Done!

Optional alternate install method:
Alternatively you can use UXM to unpack your DS3 game files. Then select patch after it's done unpacking.
Then you can copy my "map" and "param" folders straight into your DS3 game folder. Overwrite when asked. This method should allow you to play online, however it's still not entirely safe. I play online with my DS3 mods and haven't had an issue. But I don't want to make promises I can't stand behind.
