I had thought for years that the menu musics of Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, and Dark Souls 2 sounded like something out of a classic Survival Horror (i.e. Resident Evil) save room theme. I used the Dark Souls Sound Inserter - DSSI mod by RavagerChris37 to make this.

I thought for years that the menu and character creations themes of these games felt like something out of classic survival horror. I wanted to see what it felt like if a bonfire played the character creation menu music. Initially I just replaced the bonfire sound, soulfire.wav with the music, but then decided to edit and merge it with the bonefire sound so you still have that hum and crackle. As I was doing this though I realized that it was going to overlap in places like Firelink Shrine, Ashlake, and Daughter of Chaos bonfire. Turning in game music off wasn't an option since that takes boss fight music out, so I've edited those three files to mute those themes, and I realize that's a pretty big sacrifice, but it's the best solution I could think of.
I used the Dark Souls Sound Inserter - DSSI tool and edited 4 archives.
frpg_main.fsb, this file contains the bonfire sound soulfire.wav
frpg_sm13.fsb, this file contains Ashlake's theme, m130200000.wav
frpg_sm10.fsb, this file contains Firelink Shrine's theme, m100200000.wav
frpg_sm14.fsb, this file contains Daughter of Chaos theme, m140000001.wav
I tested it near Chamber of the Princess and it appears to be just out of earshot of that theme, so I left it alone. The only other instance of I can think of it really clashing is the Duke's Archive Prison where you have that ambient music, but since it's more on the side of pure ambience and you eventually turn it off, I left that alone. I'm pretty amateur at this stuff, so if there's a way to put this music on bonfires except for the ones at Firelink, Ashlake, and Daughter of Chaos I'm not aware how I could have done it, so this was the best I could come up with.
4 files included all get copied and overwritten into steamapps\common\DARK SOULS REMASTERED\sound
