About this mod
This mod takes heavy inspiration from the Elden Ring Mod that did the same thing - it adds rarity to all weapons, armor, and rings, and also gives every weapon and piece of armor a special effect! There are 7 levels of rarity, ranging from common to Godlike! Enemies have been strengthened to compensate, as well as souls from enemies.

Enemies can drop all different varieties of common, uncommon, rare, etc. loot (each enemy has 5 drop tables, each with 7 different items from common to godlike. Enemies are also able to drop spells!).
To use this mod: download files and drop in the Param and MSG folders under Steam > steamapps > common > DARK SOULS REMASTERED. That's it!
To uninstall: Make a copy of the original Param and MSG folders and drop them in the game directory. (Alternatively, verifying game files through Steam or uninstalling and reinstalling through Steam should work).
This mod takes the base game weapons, armor, and rings and assigns a rarity ranging from common to uncommon. The rarer the loot - the better the base stats and the stronger the effect! Almost every enemy in the game will now drop randomized items as well, so be sure to clear out areas at least once! The rarest form of loot has around a 1/2000 chance of dropping from any enemy you find!
Please note that due to the way Dark Souls handles special effects, two of the same effect on the same rarity of weapon or armor won’t stack (e.g. 2 rare armor pieces with HP regen won’t stack). The same effect but with different rarities (e.g., a rare hp regen and common hp regen) should stack in theory, but I haven’t fully tested out every combination to make sure this is the case!
Rarity of loot is as follows:
- Common
- Uncommon
- Rare
- Very Rare
- Legendary
- Mythical
- Godlike
For weapons, each increase in rarity is roughly equal to +3 to your weapon level (or +1 for special weapons), and armor is roughly equal to +2 (or +1). This means that a Godlike piece of equipment will be stronger than anything you can find in the vanilla version of the game. Upgrading weapons and armor at blacksmiths has been removed - to upgrade your weapon, you'll have to find one on your journey! Rings at the "Rare" level are roughly equal to their base game effect, so common rings will be a bit weaker than normal to compensate for the added effects for balance purposes.
Vendors and static drops (e.g., corpses) have been assigned a rarity based on the location where you would normally find those items - the Firelink Zweihander will always be a common for example!
To compensate for the better loot, enemies have also received increases to their health, defense, and attack (roughly 20-30%). Soul gain has also been increased to help provide more opportunities for levelling up to promote swapping weapons.
From a technical standpoint, this mod adds 7 copies of every weapon, armor piece, and a good number of rings. Most enemies have had their drop tables updated to an entirely new table containing these new items, meaning that using this with other mods that modify these fields might not work (i.e., enemy randomizers). Aesthetic / texture mods should be fully compatible.
Please let me know if you find any bugs or issues - I think I've gotten most of them out, but seeing as this is the first mod I've made, there might be a few here and there (hopefully nothing gamebreaking - a common one is an item bag that cannot be picked up due to internal coding stuff, similar to if you have 99 of an item).
