About this mod

Some QOL changes to ziplines, to make them easier and cheaper to use. Changes game balance, so not recommended for a first playthrough.
This is for Death Stranding (Director's Cut) only. It will NOT work with the basic version.

I always found it terribly annoying that I couldn't build a bazillion ziplines, on account of chiral bandwidth. I wholly understand why from a game balance perspective, but I want a spider's web of ziplines from everywhere to everywhere else. It'll be fun.

F0xDi324 wrote a mod to deal with this Better Zip-lines (Director's Cut) and I must give him credit, but there's a problem in his mod. I don't like to steal another author's thunder, but the problem was reported in January and I have also made a bug report myself but unfortunately, he's not responded to any comments of bug reports, it seems since uploading the file.

Thus I was inspired to learn how to mod Decima and make my own fixed version of this.

It fundamentally changes ziplines and makes the game a lot easier. I really suggest you only use this mod for repeat playthroughs. The game is set up the way it is for good reasons and this overcomes one of the built in limitations that Hideo Kojima and his team intended, so play it through vanilla at least once.

What this mod does then:

  • It reduces the chiral bandwidth cost for Ziplines to 1 instead of 500, so you can build lots. (F0xDi324 had this working)
  • The range for a basic Zipline is now 350m, same as the upgraded in vanilla. (F0xDi324 also had this working)
  • It just requires a few chiral crystals to repair (F0xDi324 had misunderstood the variable ending up with his version needs 10s of 1000s)
  • When using a floating carrier, you will not get a speed debuff as compared to using lines without one. (Not present in the F0xDi324 version, but I thought it would be cool)
To install
  • You will need the Decima Workshop download and unzip this into a folder.
  • Take my file and unzip it into the same folder.
  • Run the install.bat
  • Provide the correct installation folder where Death Stranding(Director's Cut) is installed.
  • Wait whilst it processes the files. Depending on your PC, this may take a few minutes.

Once it's done, you should be able to play. In my testing it retconned existing ziplines from 500, to 1 chiral bandwidth, so I believe it's viable to add to a game in progress.

I don't guarantee it will work with any other mods. If you are using some other mod and have problems, then try with just this mod before you post any bugs.
