About this mod

Puts Dante in his outfit from DMC 2 by bringing a bunch of expert modders (and somehow I got in there too) together

Requirements
Permissions and credits
Okay, so where to start with this....

First things first - LOTS of credit goes to both Nxus 64 and Vainiuss1, without whom this mod would not be possible. The coat is originally by Nxus 64 (You can find it in his Reaper of the Underworld Mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/devilmaycry5/mods/364, and is what inspired me to make this mod in the first place). Also I want to highlight that Vainiuss1's DMC 2 mod ALSO inspired me, and I actually used the sleeves from that mod and the leg textures. You can find his original mod here: https://www.nexusmods.com/devilmaycry5/mods/344.

Okay, so as for the mod itself:

The coat, as I've already stated is a retextured and slightly altered version of Nxus64's reaper of the underworld mod. I added long sleeves to it (courtesy of Vainiuss1) and also edited the "skirt" part of the coat a bit to hang closer to Dante's hips. The prologue and mission 10 version of the coat is a brighter red, reminiscent of Dante's original look in DMC 2. Dante's cat after mission 10 is slightly darker and faded, to reflect the effects of being out in the weather and sun for a month.

Legs: original textures by Vainiuss1 which I slightly edited.

Boots: I actually took Vergil's boots to get the taller, slimmer, buckled look from DMC 2. I made them darker and edited them to give them a more leathery texture

Gloves: textured to look like the boots - I put three of of the claps from vergil's boots on each of them.

Collar: has two clasps and buckles like he had in DMC 2 as well.

EX COLOR - A reverse of the original colors - could honestly do with more retexture work, as its pretty rough rn. (white hair not included - I just can't stand Dante with black hair. NO.)

Known Issues:

There are a couple clipping issues around the shoulders and hands, where the cloth from the coat will go through Dante's skin or the leather of his gloves. Not a huge issue - but it's there.

More importantly,  the gloves don't match up with Dante's hands perfectly, so if you look closely his fingers look kind of misshapen. So like...Don't look closely for now. They may scare you. I will probably be working to fix this in the future, but as it is I keep delaying posting this cause there's so much I want to do xD

Future updates: I am trying to make the chest-belt that he wears. It's proving rather annoying, but I hope to get that done soon. For now though, no chest belt :)

I also want to give a huge shout out to evilmaginakuma - my sensei - who has taught me pretty much all I know about model editing.

UPDATE 1.2:

Okays so major update - the entire upper body has been slimmed down and the jacket has been brought to hang close to the body. Additionally, BIG THANKS to Thin Red Paste, who edited the physics to make the coat look more natural and less bulky - he also edited the slit down the back to make it more noticable. Also, the vest part of the coat has been entirely redone - it is now a separate piece of mesh so it is not oddly stretched or anything and resembles the shape of the DMC 2 vest-part of the coat. A glitch where the heels of the boots didn't show up has also been fixed.

KNOWN ISSUES:  This update is in response to people's comments and complaints about the outfit, so most of the updates are only concerned with the vest and the coat.
- the gloves have still not been addressed, so they are still pretty glitchy at certain moments. I hope to fix this eventually, but honestly it took a good few hours just to get them to where they are now so don't hold your breath (weight painting finger bones in 3DS max is TEDIOUS). If anyone out there has the software to edit this stuff, please feel free to mess around - if you get to it before I do just send it over to me and I'll add you to the ever growing authors list :)
- the grey vest-part of the jacket is now made of a completely separate mesh from the rest of the coat. It's fine for the most part, but during certain animations there are clipping issues where the red from the jacket underneath cuts through the grey vest - it really only occurs when Dante raises his hands above his head.
- theres a weird red glowing around Dante's hands in the mission 12 cutscene in the Sparda manor - I've noticed this with quite a few different mods that contain edits to the hands. Not sure whats going on here.

Future Updates:
- Main thing is to return my attentions back to building the shoulder strap.
